If your truck has the room, consider the Mopar bed step - man is it handy!
If you don't want to use the strap - you could probably use the bed step to close it, if your balance is good or you brace yourself
To me those are the top 4 A/T tires I would run.
Duratrac, KO2, Falken AT3W, thusfar the newcomer Toyo AT3s have been good.
For me, I like an A/T with some offroad-ability, plus 3PMSF rating as a must.
A good snow rating is a thing you need "All the time" in a coastal winter, but needing to get...
I've been looking at this thread, I'm considering a level/lift of some flavor, and this is one of the "concerns"
I have a non-air ride rebel. I did my absolute best with the tape measure yesterday, I came up with this.
My truck is a smidge under 38in at the front fender, a smidge under...
I'm not in Canada so I have lesser winters, BUT I've run both BFG KO2s and Duratracs in winters on winters, loved both!
3PMSF Rating thusfar hasnt let me down.
This year I'm running Toyo AT3s, it snowed once, they were good in the little bit I drove
So out of curiosity, I measured my ~2 year old Rebel
I got 38in to the front fenders, 40in at the rear.
I wonder if it was more like the 2.25in difference when new!
I have a Rebel with the 4x4 "chain-drive" system (non-Auto).
Being really honest? You could flip a coin and be happy, both systems have virtues, just different uses.
Would you rather have the ability to turn it on, and leave it on? AWD style?
Or have a more robust system where the difference...
Mine is marginally better, going from the duratracs to the Toyo AT3s.
IIRC they're 2lbs lighter, slightly harder rubber IMHO, with a slightly less aggressive tread.
I wanna say I picked up a smidge under .5mpg in warmer temperatures, I wanna say .3 in winter driving.
I had a Gen 1 rebel and...
Ya know, the EV crowd is always telling people that the battery tech is nearly perfect, we'll have a breakthrough next week anyway, and that the EV tech and hybrids are "putting maintenance departments out of business".
It's always interesting to watch that goalpost shift, and hear about how...
I'm thinking I'll be in the same boat one day! large driveway, snowblower would take about a calendar year, even for a tractor.
.........Or.... with the comfort of a truck cabin, (you see where I'm going with this)
I used to see a guy in a 4th gen Ram with a snoway plow on it, a clear...
400hp 5.7L V8 that doesn't have to run on premium.
Factory lift.
Locker.
Robust 4x4 system.
Factory 33in AT Tires.
Winter in particular always reminded me why I loved this truck, and chose it above a lot of other options!
Snow:
So an update now that we've had snow.
I didn't get in a ton of driving on it, but the driving I did do? Inspired confidence!
I liked the grip.
To me that counts for a ton, I'm pretty set on having 3PMSF rated A/Ts for snow tires.
I love this truck (and the last one!) for a ton of reasons...
I'm thinking of going this route one day.
IIRC The rebel has the same 4x4 system as the tradesman model, the one that doesn't have Auto, but is more robust.
I'm guessing the other bottleneck is the shocks, which would probably be solved by Falcon shocks (has a setting for "heavy equipment")
How dare you buy an offroad truck that comes with a factory locker and a big V8, and put bigger tires and a sleeker bumper on it!
How dare you
[Clutches pearls]
So out of curiosity I just looked up this model, now I could be wrong and you probably researched it much better than I have!
But, 1405lbs - as the "old timers" tell everyone who will listen on RV/Camper boards, might end up being more like 1550lbs. They have this weird way of being heavier...
I think it's a fantastic option!
I totally understand the guys who didn't go with them, after all I think there's a reason Ram offers trucks with and without them.
For me personally? I've had 800-1000lbs in the bed of both trucks, and of stuff in the construction material category - never...
While that was the primary intention of the thread, had it been enforced to "ONLY regret posts" boundary lines?
It would have like 5 posts in it, and slid out of existence to like page 35.
There would have been posts - just not that many, and not enough to keep it near the top every week.
This...

And there's a few different styles too, take a look!
Interesting - I personally feel the Toyo AT3s have a touch less rolling resistance than the Duratracs too, and IIRC they're 2lbs lighter per tire (at least in the stock size). I wouldn't be surprised to learn later you have decent MPG even in the larger size with the lift.
I know I'm getting...
