Wow, how did you get that response? I called RAM customer service and spent an hour in the phone with them about this. They were going to call me back after escalating the issue... I'm still waiting for that return call. Even my dealership couldn't get an answer through their connections. RAM...
The Bed Utility Group in my truck has black rails about 1/2 way down the interior sides. Many of the covers that sit on top of the bed use spring loaded handles that need to be pulled down vertically to lock or unlock. The BUG rail in my RAM prevents those from functioning properly. The Gator...
Okay, full disclosure here...my dealer DID take the brackets off my truck in an attempt to install the MOPAR hardcover. I drove around for a week like that, but based on everything I saw here, I decided to reinstall the brackets and go another route. When reinstalling the brackets they did not...
The brackets are pretty stout, so the frame of the topper would have to be substantial. From what I've seen, the rails of a bed cover can't replace them, since they only connect to the sides with nothing between rails but the cover itself.
Hypothetically speaking, if the topper you ordered doesn't work with the brackets in place, would you feel comfortable removing them? Or would you go without a cover on the bed of your truck?
This is the crux of my current dilemma.

Clearwater Florida area here. My truck was the first one with the Dual Function Tailgate that my dealership had ever seen, and they got it through a swap with an Orlando shop. It sat in their showroom for one day before I grabbed it.
No final word yet. I'm still waiting for a call back from RAM Care, or even someone from RAM who lurks here to reach out with a definitive statement on what the brackets do. Are they a precaution? Structural? A tie down point? Any input from the manufacturer would be appreciated.

Oh, it looks bulletproof! I just envision needing to load something on the spot that's too tall to close the covers and too long to fit with the middle portion of the Diamondback in place.
Oh, and the Diamondback would probably work too because it mounts in the middle of the bed. But, you can't access the majority of the bed without completely removing it, so no go for me.
I can tell you that any bed cover that requires rails to be installed to be flush mounted will not work. I have looked at many, and those braces will Charlie Bravo all of them. The ONLY one I think might work is the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 because it sits on top of the bed rails and the front...
Please let us know. I'm noodling on how I can make the Mopar bed cover work before I move on to the Truxedo Sentry. I'm sure RAM will come up with a solution at some point, but I kind of need that bed security sooner rather than later.
True, but that's only half the benefit the Dual Function provides. Without the tailgate in the way, your reach into the bed is vastly improved, and it's easier to load heavy objects without having to reach over the horizontal tailgate. Sure, it's not for everyone and it does cost more, but to me...
I respectfully have to disagree with you. I own a RAM with the Dual Function Tailgate, and I bought the Mopar cover. It will not fit unless you remove the brackets in the non Rambox bed. The side rails cannot be mounted flush to the sides with the brackets in place. I know this because my...
I bought my Limited on Saturday, but had to swing by the dealership on Monday for a minor issue. While there, I overheard the sales manager on the phone state that any deals done Monday would count toward June. In another thread a forum member mentioned that dealerships can't close out a month...
