One caution on removing the plastic trim from the lower bed behind the rear wheels.
In addition to the two clips and the screw, there is also a locating tab. The tab goes into a hole next to the rear clip.
That tab is fragile...ask me how I know! [emoji849]

My understanding of the device is that it mimics the fob, after it determines the fobs frequency. The device sends the commands to the vehicle.
If it is merely repeating the signal from the fob, then the unlock/start commands would have to be initiated by the actual fob.

I spoke to several local retailers that sold the Westin line. Seeing them in person was great. I was able to compare the 4" to the 5" and see that the 4" provided plenty of width.
After seeing some 6" steps, I knew I didn't want that much width.
