easiest tonneau cover to install and remove

I have a Truxedo Sentry CT on my 2020 with Ramboxes and the installation hardware is designed to work with the silver aluminum OEM rails. Very simple installation and the cover works great, quick to remove also. Should work fine for the MFT also.

    Eco diesel reliability

I’ve had mine for over a year now, 19000 miles and it’s only been back to the dealer for oil changes. A few trucks have had issues, but it seems to be isolated. Still early to tell for long term reliability, I love mine though. Great gas mileage, plenty of power, smooth and quiet.

Towing help for new 1500 purchase

For reference, our last camper was 34 feet over all and around 7500 loaded for camping (1000 pound tongue weight). I pulled it with an F150 5.0 with 6 1/2 foot bed (1740 payload and 9000 towing capacity). The truck pulled that camper great, mostly flat land but several steep grades in the...

Towing help for new 1500 purchase

The trailer is a Grand Design 2250RK. Overall length is 28 feet. Trailer gross weight is 7495, but we only have it loaded to about 6500 with an 800 pound tongue weight. The hitch is a Husky Centerline TS. Both the 1500 and 2500 were stable with the trailer, but the 1500 has less bounce on...

Towing help for new 1500 purchase

In that case you should be fine as far as weight is concerned. I'd spend some time at the scales getting the WDH all dialed in once you get your truck, that'll make a world of difference in how she tows. My 1500 actaully tows smoother than my 2500 did becuase I got the WDH all dialed in myself...

Towing help for new 1500 purchase

Is that tongue weight from the manufacturer, or actual tongue weight taken at the scales after the trailer is loaded for camping? 833 pounds sounds awfully low for a trailer that big. Normal tongue weight is usually around 12-13% of actual trailer weight, so let's say you add 1000 pounds to...

AT tires for winter and towing

I've had very good luck with my A3TWAs both towing and in the snow (although I have not tried towing in the snow). Almost all user reports I've read state that these are very good tires, maybe not as aggressive or robust as the A3TW, but one of the better OEM tires out there. I'd definitely...

    2021 eco diesel gas mileage

I have 19,000 miles on mine now. With 3.92 rear end I get 23-24 MPG around town and 27-29 pure hwy, depending on temperature/winds. Towing our 6500 lb travel trailer I get 12-14 MPG, again depending on winds and type of terrain (hills vs flat). Speeds over 70 MPH kill highway MPG fast.

Does DEF always come with full for new RAM 1500?

DEF tank size on the Gen 3 EcoDiesels are 5.15 gals for Tradesman models, 5.74 gals for all others per the owner's manual. I know one 2 1/2 gal jug fills my tank about half way. My DEF tank was also half full at delivery.

New to forum and looking at EcoDiesel, how is yours fairing?

MOPAR MaxPro 5w40 P/N 68231020AA is what my dealer uses, after I correct them every time they pull out the Rotella.

New to forum and looking at EcoDiesel, how is yours fairing?

The MOPAR oil filter on dieselfiltersonline for the Gen 3 runs $43.95. MOPAR offers a service contract of 4 oils changes for $400, tough to beat that price even doing it yourself. I have 17,000 miles on mine with zero issues, love it.

ABS, 4WD, Traction control and FCW failure

I just had this happen yesterday on start up. I backed out of parking and by the time I got to the stop sign 100 yards away the warnings had cleared. I've got just under 16,000 miles on my truck, will definitely keep an eye on it.

Conflicting Oil Standards in Owners Manual

The updated owner's manual for the Gen 3 Ecodiesel recommends oil meeting MS-12991/API SN. There are a bunch of oils meeting that spec besides the Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40. Unfortunately, Rotella T6 does not meet that spec. On the MOPAR site the MOPAR MaxPro 5W-40 (part no. 68231020AA) is...

Conflicting Oil Standards in Owners Manual

I just took my truck in for its 2nd oil change (12,000 flawless miles, I love this truck). The first time the dealership put Rotella in and it took quite a bit of back and forth getting FCA to work with the dealership to identify the proper oil. I had to take my truck back in to have them swap...

2021 Ram 1500 Potential Purchase, Questions Galore.....Please Help

I've owned my EcoD since last December and now have a little over 11,000 miles on it. Mine has been trouble free and I really love the engine. It is my first diesel so I was a little leery, especially after some of the problems with the previous generation EcoD, but it has been great so far...

2019 Limited with 275/55R20 recomendations please

Something else to consider with the Falken A/T3W is that the 275/55R20 size has an XL load rating and is 6 ply, the 275/60R20 has an SL load rating and is 4 ply. The A/T3WA that Falken makes for RAM is also 4 ply and has an SL load rating. When the A/T3WAs on my truck wear out I will go with...

Falken Wildpeak AT3/W outlined white letters local shop cant get them

The A/T3WA is an OEM tire made specifically for RAM, Tirerack is the only place I've seen them for sale. The non-OEM version is the A/T3W, but it does not have the raised white lettering. Both are great tires, the A/T3WA made for RAM has a less aggressive tread pattern than the non-OEM A/T3W...

    Another towing report

bill-e, thanks for the very detailed explanation on regens, great stuff! I can always tell when my truck is doing an active regen because it typically occurs on the interstate and my instantaneous fuel mileage will drop by 6-8 MPG for 8-10 miles. I am at 11,000 miles and have never seen an...
