Wouldn't bed length also come into play? Can you turn the larger 5th wheels with the 5'7" bed without it hitting the back of the cab? A 9-11K# 5th wheel would be pretty big?

I don't remember which company it was, but someone has it where you can plug two cars together and transfer power from one to the other. I don't know how fast/slow the transfer is, though.

If the Eco has a higher resale value than an otherwise identical Hemi, then it doesn't have to recoup all its additional cost in fuel savings as you get some back when you sell/trade. I've not researched to see if it actually does hold a higher value at trade-in, though.
