    Input on towing setup

Gondul, we met on the Airstream Forums - I’m in the same boat with a 27’ Airstream Globetrotter due to arrive in April. We’ve got a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport with 1220# payload. My first stop will be the CAT scales to check the actual axle weights. If it makes you feel any better...

Ha! Just realized we exchanged posts on the Airstream Forum! Boy, those Ford guys like to remind us they have more payload capacity, right?

Funny thing you should ask about lightening the load... We had a 2016 VW Touareg Diesel which pulled our 23’ Airstream like a champ. Had 406 lb.ft of torque, 6 piston calipers and independent rear suspension. Payload was 1160 # so we decided to move up to the RAM. I took the new trailer’s...

Todd, that’s a beautiful trailer with lots of room. The slide out dinette really opens up the floor plan. Should be perfect for the two of you + grandson. What a neat experience for him! Have you decided on a weight distribution hitch yet? We had one bout of trailer sway with our previous 23’...

Todd, sounds like a nice setup with the Apex! We ordered a Airstream 27’ Globetrotter with dual AC and 2 solar panels. The tongue weight is 871, dry wt. 6258 and GVWR is 7600. RAM dealer recommended the 3.92 axle and 33 gal tank with the Hemi. I think part of the reason the payload is so...

Todd, welcome to the club! I too am a “new to Ram” owner as of Dec 31, 2018. We also picked the truck as a travel trailer tow vehicle. Do yourself a favor and check the white tire sticker on the driver’s side chassis frame for the payload number. See if that matches the #1850 number you...

Anyone put a sport hood on a limited?

I wasn’t looking for a Sport package but this Laramie had everything else I wanted for towing. Now I’m really glad it has the hood!

Anyone making the switch from and F-150 to a Ram Limited?

Is it possible the RAM front seats go further back than the Ford’s? That would make a difference. Like the other poster’s mentioned, RAM added 4 inches to the cab. I found the back seats very spacious with the front seats in the normal driving position.

    Falken OEM Tires

I have the factory 20” Falkens and the Off-Road package. We’ve had two snowstorms and they have handled it fine. I’ve had three sets of winter tires on cars and the Falkens are very close. I echo the other poster’s comments on ride and handling on dry pavement. Very pleased with the...

How are the OE Falken WildPeak All-Terrain A/T3WA tires handling in the snow/ice for those that have them?

I have some recent experience living in NW suburbs of Chicago - we just had two snowstorms. I’m impressed with their performace in the snow. I’ve had several sets of winter tires on AWD cars and these handle pretty close. I’ve got the 275-55-20’s with the off-road package.

Disappointing numbers - 1220# 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie Sport, 5.7 (non-eTorque), Off-road, no RamBoxes, no cover. Bought to tow a 27’ Airstream Globetrotter with 1000# tongue wt., 6600# dry, 7600 max. Leaves just enough for me and the dog. Haven’t told the wife she’s not going yet due to cargo...
