Chevy Silverado Trail Boss vs GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 vs Ram 1500 Rebel vs Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

Day 1 - Track...
Yes, Ram has been specifically mentioning 1500 sales numbers in their press releases for the last few months, once 1500 sales really started to take off. Historically we had to guess at Ram p/u sales split b/w light duty and HD. Now they are actually providing the numbers, which is cool (and no...
I think for motortrend, you can only enter if you have a "new" vehicle. My guess is the limited with the 3.5 HO ecoboost was maybe too late? Or, Ford intentionally didn't send it. So that left only the 3.0 powerstroke entry.
Other publications, like pickuptrucks, allowed anyone to send only 1...
I know that has been on the Ram HDs but not sure on the 1500s. Also wasn't aware that was class exclusive, as i thought others had cameras mounted in the 3rd brake light to view the bed also.
And the winner is - Ram.

Braking and payload were for the same reasons, that truck as configured was 500-600 lbs heavier than the GMs and Ford. Although if you look at motortrend testing, they were able to stop in only 126 ft with a longhorn and 132 ft with a limited. So that is quite a difference.
Understood that the TR and TRX are performance trucks to compete with the Raptor. My intent was to ask if the same engine (rumored 426) will be also be available in other, higher trims (like the limited) without the offroad performance goodies.
Or possibly the replacement for the 5.7 which i...
Yes I've already started a Motortrend thread. Based on how they wrote their "finalist" articles summarizing the chevy, ford, GMC, and ram, I'd be quite surprised if Ram didn't take home the bacon. Ram sent like 4 or 5 trims, (2 big horns, rebel, longhorn, and limited)
Honestly, a little...
This is about exactly what i figured would happen.
With empirical data being worth 1600, and subjective judges data being worth 600, Ram sending a high optioned, very heavy truck disadvantaged themselves to a 3rd place finish.
Ram curb weight = 5,920
Nissan = 5,940
GMC = 5,540
Chevy = 5,440...
Was one of the reviews you were referring to this?

A 2015 F150 supercrew XLT 2wd short bed with the 3.5 ecoboost weighs 4,662 per IIHS. The 5.0 is lighter i think than the 3.5 by 50 lbs...
What would CGI gain you other than a few pounds of weight savings? Just because a different manufacturer choses CGI for a different engine, doesn't mean FCA has to switch to it on the 5.7. Makes no since, but would be a great suggestion if you want FCA to go back into debt or go bankrupt again...
Cummins deciding to go CGI on the I6, and Ford with the 6.7 PS and small displacement, twin turbocharged V6s is vastly different than FCA doing this to a naturally aspirated 5.7 V8. There is absolutely no need for the hemi to go CGI. The blocks used in the hellcats and redeye aren't CGI. The...
The way pickuptrucks analytically scores their testing, i'd actually be surprised if this Ram as configured will win. It will not be fastest at the track, and it will not have a highest payload, due to all the options, and it is also the most expensive.
However, at only $1000 more than the...
Good question. I doubt it. Not sure considering the way they perform this test that it would negatively impact the result.
But they did test a Laramie, which is heavier than a base model and would have negatively impacted the strength to weight ratio.
