To be curious OP, where are you at that you want a dedicated winter tire? Or is it a job related position of responsibility type thing where you often have to get out before the road crews?
What tires are on the truck right now? The generic OEM all weather tires I assume?
Not trying to...
No experience with Blizzaks.
I ran studded Hankook I pike RW11s on my Tacoma in Alaska, so I can vouch for them.
Have you looked at the studded Nokian options? Nokian Haks are pretty much world class winter tires. https://www.nokiantires.com/tires/suv-4x4-tyres/studded-tires/
So I know you've already figured this out, but I had to get back in to AlphaOBD today and figured I'd post these pics for future searches.
In the Windows UI, you have to select the active diagnostic tab and then the dropdown. DRLs are under car config change.
Where is it leaking from? Did you change the oil lately and this is some of the leftovers from the filter's mess dripping on parts?
My only "leak"(not a leak) aggravation is from the weep holes in my exhaust. Usually a drip or two a days of carbony/oily water onto my garage floor that I have...
I didn't even know this was a thing until this thread. It shows as standard equipment on my build sheet. I would have come in handy a couple weeks ago when I almost lost an axe out the back.
I guess I'll go hunting around in that godawful windows version of alphaOBD this week.
Thanks. Seems easy enough and I've done it on other trucks. Appreciate the tip on the lights doing OK in the salt. Speaking of, it's almost time for me to give this thing its inaugural woolwax bath. I think NH DOT and the car dealers are in on a scheme to rust out things as quickly as possible.
IMO, most all terrains will do that. They don't clear as well as dedicated mud tires as eventually turn into racing slicks. BFGs are one of the worst IME.
Those Rugged Treks look like a decent design. While not as good on the mud as a dedicated mud tire, it should be better than an AT and...
It was hard for me to find a quality in stock 3PMSF in LT275/60/20 around here(mid/northern NH). I do like the look of the ATPs though.
LT Toyo AT3s aren't made in that size, D rated BFGs were at the low end of my list as I've had too many problems with them, D rated Falken Wildpeaks were...
You can fit one size up even on the non off road package.
I just swapped the OEM Duelers to Nokian Rotiiva AT Plus in 275/60/20. I prefer the utilitarian look to them over the flashy ones with crap on the sides. Had Wildpeaks on my Tacoma-great tires, not a huge fan of the look when compared...
If you're in a state that sees a lot of winter weather, they may not be the greatest with their lack of siping. Probably be fine in the south or places that don't freeze too often.
If you're looking for a BFG lookalike that costs a bit less than BFGs, you may want to look at General Grabber...
Had the same thought on the limited slip additive. Amsoil makes their own AND their gear oil already contains some. I complied with Amsoil's recommendations though. Well, sort of-I only bought one 4 ounce bottle of Mopar LS additive.
It's overkill, but I'm a firm believer of using Amsoil...
Living in BC, I'm sure you're familiar with the Nokian brand. They (especially their Haks) were hugely popular when I lived in AK. While I don't get AK or Canada snow cover here, we're at least five months out of the year covered and will be more once I move an hour north of here. I found a...
Are you looking for P or LT tires? I refuse to put P tires on my trucks as tires are the last thing I ever want an issue with and I typically overdo them-heck I had E rated Wildpeaks on a Tacoma.
I also upsized one inch in diameter to 275/60/20.
I wanted the Toyo AT3s, but not available in D...
So with a total of both differential's factory spec capacity of 8 pints>AKA 4 quarts>AKA 1 gallon, this is what drained. This gallon jug also has about 4 ounces of fresh oil as the Mopar LS juice took up 4 ounces of room in the rear diff. I used extra "tricks" to ensure I got as much of a...
