Which begs the question:
Isn't LSD and traction control kind of redundant anymore?
I can see before traction control existed the huge advantage of LSD, but what's the point of a LSD with traction control? Isn't the 'computer' figuring out which wheel to give power to?
It's not when MDS kick's IN that it's most noticeable. It's when MDS kicks OFF that it can be very noticeable. Especially when you're asking for more power but not enough to downshift. It's then, under load, that MDS 'clunks' when it kicks off.
An added bonus to the LED 3rd brake light, it actually comes on faster than an incandescent bulb does. Not by seconds, but faster. Pretty much instantly as you hit the brake pedal vs. like 1/3 of a second delay.
I went straight for the best ones. Diode Dynamics.
Spend the $100 and get the trio (2 cargo, 1 brake light) and just be done with it.
They also don't affect the key FOB transmitter the way some other LED replacements do.
I have the exact same issue, just haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.
Take a pin and stick it in the nozzle opening and gently adjust it a tad down and to the left.
I've had luck doing this with many vehicles over the years.
We are in the 'final days' of V-8 powered engines in common passenger cars and half-ton trucks.
Let's all remember this and enjoy the hell out of these trucks while we still have em.
Again, you may think you're 'in tune' with your truck, but I can assure you the MDS will occasionally cause a mild 'clunk' in the drivetrain when it disengages under load.
Not being a smart ***, but some people don't mind the smell of cologne or perfume and others despise it.
You're one of the people that just isn't tuned-in to your vehicle at a high level. You probably either listen to music turned up a lot or you just have a lot of stuff on your mind when...
$600 and not sure if it leaves a trace? No thank you.
What happened to the sub $200 units that just disable MDS? You can't get them for 5th Gen trucks.
Agreed. But (maybe it's just me) I think i do feel the truck accelerates more smoothly under LIGHT to MODERATE acceleration with 91 vs 87. You know when you ask the engine for power but not so much that it downshifts? That's when I feel the smoothness with 91 vs a little more 'choppiness'...
This would be as good a time as any to remind people to check your spare tire psi once or twice a year. You don't want to be on the interstate and find out your spare only has 15psi because you never checked it.
If you get a flat and need to drive more than a mile or two, then the spare needs to go on the front and make sure you're not in 4wd. So if you get a flat on your back tire, first put the spare on the front and then move your good front tire to the back. This will keep your rear diff from...
I put the same size tires on mine. My OCD mandated the speedo be recalibrated. Cost a few hundred bucks, but I typically drive right at the limit where I feel cops would probably 'let me go' on a radar/lidar gun. Having to do quick math all the time sucks.
Anyone else have a horrendous squeal when their tailgate opens?
My left hinge emits this noise just at the gate is finishing opening and I've tried lithium grease and WD-40 to no avail.
I don't think it's a traditional metal-on-metal squeal. Sounds like softer materials like plastic and...
I think as we're stuffing more and more technology into vehicles, the results of running out of gas are more and more dangerous. So perhaps the auto industry does build in a 'buffer' when calculating the DTE?
Makes sense. So our 2020 trucks probably aren't capable of receiving an over the air update then. Only a dealer visit combined with a request to update the system will net an actual update?
They aren't going to recall thousands of trucks for a hardware issue in uconnect. Not a physical safety...
