That sucks! Although, you could drive it like that a long time. But it's a good break, once the manifold is pulled, probably will come out with a set of vice grips, should be plenty of bolt to grab a hold of.
I can tell you that JBA shorties are basically a bolt-in, have been on the truck in...
No broken bolts, it appears that the new fangled steel plates that run horizontal on the top and bottom bolt holes of the manfiold mostly stop the bolts from shearing off in the heads, they just cause the manifolds to crack right down the middle. I was prepared for broken bolts and gave myself...
Here is a potential solution for the ongoing manifold cracks. On this truck both manifolds cracked.
The only tool I know how to use...
...And done, time for beer o'clock.
If you read this far, once all the bolts (and a couple custom studs) were tightened, no more exhaust leaks.
I know the TB cleaning had no effect, (bummer), but had another thought on air fuel mixture being off, causing RPMs to stumble at low speed/deceleration. How is your MAF? Might be gunked up after >100K mileage? At 57K, the interior of my intake manifold at 57K is coverded in oil...
As I learned form some folks wiser than myself, we have cast iron manifolds, aluminum heads and steel bolts, plus high temperatures, something was gonna break with all the varied thermal expansion rates of the different materials. The steel bars now installed on >2019 models along the manifold...
Well crapola! Sorry it didn't help. Can I ask, which way the TB was cleaned? For instance; was it completely removed from the manifold, sprayed with cleaner while still on the manifold, or something like Seafoam?
Wowee, that is a lot of miles! I went back and read through, yes, no joy. I hope you can get this resolved, (along with the rest of us). I am going to give the TB experiment 30 to 60 days, the next thing I'll try is the 10,000 step service procedure for checking the transmission fill level.
Hi Cooper83, That sucks! What mileage point did the neutral gremlin turn up? Would you be willing to try an experiment and clean your throttlebody? Kicksnare suggested it on Page 20 of this thread, and after I cleaned my TB, it has been 7 days without the drop into neutral.
Perhaps this is a case of, a dirty butterfly flaps its wings... and begets two problems, begets four, etc. So it has been 5 days of driving after cleaning the TB, and my "seat of the pants" feel for driving this truck feels like the conditions (cold transmission, high pressure shifts, quick...
Pulled the TB, it was coated with grime, heaviest around where the butterfly meets the body. Now I'll give it a few days and see what happens with the neutral drop gremlin installed by RAM. FYI - The TB to manifold gasket is Felpro-61586, NOT 61372, (which the AI computer overlord at big parts...
Thank you for the information! I am going to have a look at my TB this weekend, an easy thing to check out. Like you, my tach does show a dip in RPM's when the transmission jams itself into neutral while driving, (which is a few times a month). I have just under 60K miles, so maybe it's gunked...
Greetings fellow leaky window club members. I have a 2019, with rear window cracked frame and window leaks, and got it to stop leaking by using window rope caulk, which can be found at most hardware stores. Just peeled off long strips and used a wood shim to press it in behind the window pane...
What you said about the software makes sense. My Rebel also has both of these gremlins, the transmission falls out of drive into neutral at low speed decleration/braking AND it does what you describe with the flashers and horn honking when I idle it, which is every. single. time. I use my...
I hear that method can be a deterrent. I sure hope you don't have to pick your cats out of an evidence pile ;). Anyways, I have a template with measurements and will share if anyone wants a head start on making their own cat covers that attach to the Dethloff skid plate.
Thank you for the links, much appreciated! Now let's exercise the ole credit card. I am in a CARB compliance area, and I get that that an EO for headers is just administrative, not enineering/real world. I'm not too worried about this leak, I was feeling frustrated with a fairly new truck (this...
Clubs are cool, but I'm not all that happy about joining this one. The passenger side on my truck started to remind of the days I ran my car uncorked at Brotherhood Raceway, so being curious I pulled the wheel, fender liner, etc. and found my manifold cracked right down the middle. This is on a...
I have the Hike-it throttle controller on my Rebel. My Rebel would randomly fall out of drive before I installed it. It still occasionally falls out of drive with the throttle controller, whether it is turned on or off. I've started keeping a log of when this happens, maybe when I get to a...
Your posts got me thinking, and since the cats are between $2K and $3K, OUCH! They do get stolen, usually with collateral damage like trans and brake lines, so I made some cat guards to compliment the Dethloff skid plate.
I have a Rebel, 5.7L, 4x4. Used 14ga hot rolled steel. Next time I would...
Well that sucks! Sorry they didn't fix it for you. I'm in Los Angeles too, and was considering taking mine in, as it seemed that DTLA Ram had fixed it. I have a 2019 Rebel with 5.7L, WITHOUT E-Torque and have been having this same problem intermittently. Luckily it has been happening at low...
