    Exhaust Manifold Leak

FYI, AFE has a Labor Day sale on the shorty headers right now. Great price for a bolt on replacement for failing cast iron manifolds. https://afepower.com/afe-power-48-32023-twisted-steel-headers AFE Twisted Steel Headers

    Rear end clunk

My clunk is back. I’d say using the Ford grease lasted about 10,000mi which isn’t that bad; but still a quirk I could live without.

    Exhaust Manifold Leak

Swapping factory manifolds is rather easy compared to the headers. If I were you, I would strongly consider getting some of the factory manifolds ceramic coated to help with the heat. Maybe they will last longer that way(they should in theory).

    Exhaust Manifold Leak

I installed my repaired AFE shorties. Ceramic coating seems to be holding up this time. This time I chose to use hex socket set screws(m8 x1.25 x 40mm) and locking stainless nuts rather than bolts. If I were to do it again I would use 45mm to bottom out in the hole. I can say that this fastener...

1500 cab rear window water leaks

I noticed my leak right after the bumper to bumper warranty expired due to mileage. Factory extended warranty wont cover the window replacement. theres a cheap fix and a $1500-1800 fix. I tried the cheap route and it has been dry as a bone since. Granted my crack was not a gaping hole like...

    Exhaust Manifold Leak

So, credit where credit is due. AFE has reviewed my pictures of the crack and have shipped me a replacement header for the driver's side. No hassle of returning a broken part, they simply replaced the defective unit. Good on them.

    Exhaust Manifold Leak

Business neighbor is an industrial fabrication shop. They are making the repair to the manifold since I can’t wait for AFE to play the warranty game. Shop manager said that they are struggling to find qualified welders let alone guys that are reliable. So many amazing opportunities out there...

    Exhaust Manifold Leak

Might as well have been. AFE, direct purchase from Mfg. I’m not impressed either. Must have been made on a “bring your kid to work” day. I’m not a professional welder but I wouldn’t be showing people my welds if they looked like that.

    Exhaust Manifold Leak

Well I’ve grown tired of the startup exhaust leak and I started removing my headers (PITA BTW). Confirmed that the header is cracked about an inch at the back cylinder, drivers side. You can see the light coming through. You can also see the ceramic coating that is flaking off like burnt paint...

    Rear window leak

Seal everything. Top of window, brake light and shark fin. There are no other penetrations in the roof for water to gain access. It’s stupid that we have to do this on new trucks but it’s worth the effort to resolve the annoying issue. I had two coworkers ride with me for 8hrs to a bird hunt...

The dreaded leaking and cracked rear window frame

My dealer SO said that they replace at least one a day. I have a cheap fix that has resolved my $1800 out of pocket design failure. Post in thread 'Rear window leak' Rear window leak

    Rear window leak

If you don’t suffer from leaks but want to hide the cracks, you could use a small tube of black RTV silicone and fill the interior cracks with that. It would be flexible when cured and easy to work with.

    Rear window leak

All my leaks are solved. These are very nice trucks with a few flaws. $20 in silicone and two hours will resolve this issue. Not ideal, but it’s reality.

    Oil Temp while Towing

This was from a trip a few years back. Three mile “hill” towing 9000# 32’ TT. I used 5w20 Shell Rotella gas truck oil until it disappeared off the shelves. You can see the temps at the start of the climb and at the end. 3.92’s with ORG, 6’4 box.

Seal it. Mine has been nice and dry since my sealant application.

    Rear window leak

I sealed my shark fin and the brake light with black silicone and all leaks are stopped! I do think with the angle of my driveway and the rain water flowing off my RTT, that it hit the drain hole on the shark fin antenna and entered the cab that way. One less flaw to worry about.

    Rear window leak

So my leaks almost completely stopped when I sealed the top of the rear window but I continued to get maybe 5% of the original leaking from before. I used some black silicone sealant and completely sealed the base of the shark fin and the gap between the third brake light and the cab, and now...
