That stinks. Sorry to hear it. Can I asked the general vicinity of where you live? I am in the DC metro area. Not terribly impressed with our local dealers either.
One other thought: have you taken a run at the dealer for goodwill repair? Stellantis may surprise you. Tell them you like the truck, you want to stay a Ram customer but this kind of failure shouldn’t happen, and ask for them to help. Worst thing that happens is they say no, but maybe since...
I am sorry to hear of this. One of the real challenges in car ownership is calling the ball so to speak as to when a dump a car due to reliability / cost issues. Our 2020 has been OK, but last year we had the rear cab window leak - repaired under warranty but drama in getting the part in less...
Got it back. They found the wire harness for the left front wheel was broken in two spots, so it was dropping out. Repaired the harness and the problem appears solved. Receipt says tech drove with code reader attached, as suggested above, to verify the issue and the repair, so for others in...
For now I started with this dealer and have to go back or else I will wind up paying the $200 deductible again when it wasn’t fixed the first time. But I may pick up one of the readers you mention. I suspect it is an issue with a plug being corroded or not fully seated, or an abrasion in the...
They should make sure the quality and reliability is right, and that when problems occur, the dealer network can properly diagnose the problem AND obtain replacement parts on a commercially reasonable schedule or this is marketing BS without real, substantive progress.
Been getting these lights randomly. Dealer diagnosed bad LF wheel speed sensor last time, a week or so ago, and repaired under max care less deductible. Few days later light comes back on. Very random, can be while driving, after being started and before moving, etc. Anyone have a similar...
You are probably fine. I would not do that regularly. Also note that the problem with being overweight, in the bed or with a trailer, is stopping. Everyone wants to know if a truck can pull a given load. The better question is whether it can stop the load in a safe and controlled manner.
In the manual, 87 is acceptable for the V8 5.7, 89 is recommended. So 88 is likely a little better but whether it makes sense depends upon the cost comparison.
FWIW, I hear light pinging on my hemi, particularly in the summer, if it has 87 but with the 89 it is quiet so I typically go with 89...
When you change the battery in one of these trucks, all of the above is normal and takes a day or so to clear. If you want to avoid this next time you need a battery, buy the “dongle” that connects the OBDII port to the cigarette lighter on your jump box, and then change the battery. Most auto...
You need to work with the dealer. Be polite and firm. No one on the internet can help you, assuming this is legit, which seems odd for them to need so long to respond at all.
All I am saying is that at least on the change, you have a fact based data point - ZF’s view on service - to justify departing from the standard factory recommendation. The rest is pure speculation of the unhelpful sort that you routinely see on the internet.
I need to check my manual, but is...
Call me skeptical. As built the 8hp is one of the best transmissions in the world. Messing with things improperly is the risk. Poor fitment for one. Also, if you are still under extended factory warranty, why would you want to provide a discussion point for denying coverage. Adding fluid...
Right I understand. But if you have priced one of these transmissions then you would know that the better approach is to buy the original part from Mopar and not screw around with an aftermarket to save money. I am not sure why servicing transmissions has become such a saga, so I sympathize...
I have the Mopar soft trifold. It's excellent - makes the bed water tight and has held up extremely well. My truck is a '20 so I wonder if they have changed them.
