I don't thnk that was the e-torque, it was the computer/computers. All the e-torque does is start the engine while using stop/start at stop signs. Don't blame the starter, there is something else going on there.

You might try a coolent flush, and a factory thermostat to rule out any problem there. That gunk in the radiator doesn't look very good.
