Old school V8 vrs I6, I6 more torque, V8 more HP. However they were simple engines, and made lower HP vrs same cubic inch. Todays engines with the computers and closer tolerances as well as better mechanical designs, to squeeze every once of fuel economy from an engine. look at the BMW's and...
The eTorque is one of the reasons I bought a 2020 in 2023, and not new. I think Ram will reintroduce a V8 in a couple of years, the 3.0 is OK til it has issues with the twin turbos. The over designed 3.0 will be a nightmare to work on, if or when its required. I strongly recommend a Mopar...
Ok, after a couple of cancelations for my appointment from the dealer, I wasn't worried about the delays, as it was functional and no trips on my schedule, the pump was replaced. Now knowing the thermostat should be replaced, not covered under warranty, I included a OE thermostat. The issue was...
I sold my 2019 3500 SRW HO for my current 2020 1500. I didn't need the HD anymore, after I sold my 5th wheel. It costs alot to maintain and for the registration costs, at least in Kentucky. So my Pontoon and 12' cargo trailer (for my Harley) is easily pulled by my 1500, so I don't need the 3500...
Everyone is in left field now, and is overthinking the differences in the ratio's.
3:92 = moving heavier loads easier and engine longevity pulling heavy = less MPG.
3:21 = maximizing your MPG, as well as lowering your engine RPM = better MPG.
If regularly towing heavy, 3:92 is the best...
I researched the water pump, and sure enough they are known for leaks at the pressed in tubes to the heater lines. After looking for small seeping evidence on the pump, I found this
Took it to the dealer and confirmed my suspicion, pump is now ordered and is covered under the 5/60 drivetrain...
I'll answer most of your questions, 1st, I bought it used in 2023, at that time I checked the coolant level with a cold engine, and I filled it to the Max level. That was with 29K miles, the level was somewhere in the middle of the range when I bought it, BTW that is per the owners manual...
I had the transmission serviced by the dealer at 30K miles. I bought the truck used and it had 15K miles of towing recorded, with air bags installed, which tells me he was towing more than likely heavier than the rating. The dealer agreed with why reasoning.
I wish Ram would have left the bottle exposed for an easy glance of the bottle. Using the dipstick is hard to see the level when removed, its difficult to confirm level and takes a couple of times to confirm the level.
Its been 20 years since my last Dodge gas engine, so I'm curious if the coolant loss I'm experiencing is normal ? I'm losing 40 ounces of mixed 50/50 distilled water and coolant in 14K miles, seems excessive, but the coolant is clean and no overheating. I did seem to have the fan engage a few...
If you got $15K off the MSRP, then kudos to you, and you got a nice truck, it makes me miss my Laramie. But as I posted prior, that would cost me $1100.00 a year in personal property tax calculated from the MSRP, then based on NADA values every year. Its why I traded my 2019 Laramie 3500 4x4 SRW...
Just posted close to my what 2020 1500 would be today in cost. It seems the HD's are 30% more now than a 2019 HD, and a 2024 1500 is 10% higher than a 2020 1500. FCA must be raising the costs on the HD's more than the 1500's.
OK, 2020 1500 4x4 Bighorn in signature. $54,195
2024 1500 4x4 Bighorn on web site. $61,000 Note: No Bighorn level 2 option, which my 2020 was optioned with, so I added another $1,000, Bighorn level B includes 12" radio, which mine doesn't have.
Did I forget to mention 3500 SRW CTD HO with auto level air system. I traded it in for my 2020 Ram in signature last year at this time, to help eliminate the tax liability for personal property tax, @ $800.00. Sold the 5th wheel, so no need for a 3500.
