Nice truck! I like those steps a lot. Don't take this the wrong way, no criticism, but it almost looks like they need to slide forward on the truck? Is that an option or are they fixed?
Swapped the BTS OEM boards for something with a lower step. Westin Outlaw Drop Step nerf bars. 3.5" lower to the step than the factory boards (21.25" vs 17.75" off the ground). They tuck in a lot, which some people may not like but I prefer. Very happy with these.
Put on Westin Outlaw Drop Step nerf bars. I needed a lower point of entry from the OEM boards. These worked out great. The step is 3.5" lower and I think the curves complement the body lines of the truck.
I bought a Rough Country soft tri fold because I take it on and off frequently. Doesn't have rails, just sits on top of the bed and has two forward clamps. Real happy with it.
After the Extang I briefly had a Peragon, was super nice but I never could get the gaskets to not fold over and cause...
Nice! I really like that 23zero. Your truck looks killer too. Do you have a pic from the side with it folded up? My rack sits a few inches below the roof of my cab. I don't mind having a little bit of the tent hanging out of the back, but not a ton.
Don't agonize over it. It sucks but that's the way it is. On the bright side the cap looks great! I like the shape and it goes with the trucks body lines well. Nice!
Thanks fellas for the detailed info. Some things I had not thought about a whole lot like changing out the mattress or removing bedding before packing up, mounting solar panels etc. I want to be up in the air and not on the ground, but I also like being able to cone and go without breaking down...
Did some searching, but can't really find a thread on rooftop tents. I'm not a stranger to rooftop tents, but never had one myself. I'm about to move out of a parking garage at work so I'll be able to add height to my truck now. I hunt public land and do a lot of tent camping in a Kodiak canvas...
If you want opinions I can give you mine. But my two cents shouldn't mean anything to anyone. It's your money, your truck, don't let anyone else tell you what you want. My thought is the wheel has to fit the styling of the truck. For instance the rebel has a lot of matte black. Grille, bumpers...
I've had 2 - 5th gens with 6" lifts, one Fabtech and one BDS (go BDS). Both with 20x10's, both with 35x12.50s. Black one has -18 offset, blue one -24. Here they are
Then here is my current one next to my brother's Big Horn before he lifted his.
Then here is mine before and after if this...
Swapped the BDS NXT shocks for Fox 2.0's. Ride is so much better. Just as a side by side test the NXT (twin tube junk) took 35 sec to fully extend from a fully collapsed position. The Fox's took 16 sec.
Update**
I just greased the slip yoke and it's totally fixed. So much better! When I pulled it out it was BONE dry. I used Lucas Red n Tacky. We will see how long it last.
I believe I need to do the grease job on mine. I've developed a clunk anytime I start to accelerate, forward or reverse. If I really ease into it then nothing happens, but when I accelerate like normal it's like a noticeable clunk/pop. I really hear it in my parking garage when I throw it in...
