It's all speculation at this point since nothing has ever been scientifically proven to be the culprit. I'd still take the higher film strength oil at a slightly reduced flow rate. Why do you think the hellcats run 0w-40? Higher bearing loads need higher film strength. I understand the...
If it is indeed a defect in the cam material, I would seek out a different manufacturer that has similar cam specs to OEM. My choices would be Comp Cams, Crower, etc before putting an OEM cam back in with the same failure potentially happening again down the road.
To my untrained eye, it sort of looks like spalling. I'm a mechanical engineer, but I'm not an expert forensic engineer. Here's a link to some common failure modes and descriptions. It is certainly interesting to note that the width of the spalling appears to be exactly the same width as the...
This is the way. I normally target between 500-1000 miles for a first oil change. The engineer with the YouTube channel mentioned above is knowledgeable and correct.
Nice write up. Thanks for taking the time to put together your posts. Replacing the pan with the PPE is on my list of mods to do to my Rebel GT. That stinks you had so much difficulty with the gasket issue. Maybe it would help others to put together a final parts list in your summary post...
Says the guy with 10k posts... :D By your post count here, you've got lots of time. And it was worth your time to make a post to ridicule him. At least my mom told me that if I don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all.
Since you are the all-knowing member here, I think you should explain it in detail. Don't be an a$$hat and ridicule someone for not understanding something and then not explain it.
It's not about miles per gallon, it's about SMILES per gallon! I didn't buy my Rebel GT for gas mileage. It's so much fun to drive! My Acura TSX is my daily, so it's pretty efficient on gas.
I had a locking front (and rear) differential on my 2020 Jeep Rubicon and would have liked to have the option of a locking front differential on my Rebel GT. Mostly street driven, but during off-road adventures a locking front differential would be nice to have.
Meh. They won't sell as many of these as they think they will. While I can't afford a TRX, I lusted after them. Primarily because of the hellcat engine. This new hurricane powerplant doesn't get that response from me.
Not today, but soon my 2024 Rebel GT will receive an altitude adjustment. The second rear reservoir shock is packed under the one visible in the pic. 😁
