If I go this route, I will order the top hats to build as full coil over assemblies. On my Tacoma, the cost was around $60 for a pair of top hats and labor to compress the springs and build the coil over from the companies who offered the service. So total was $795 for the pair of coil overs...
Good find.
It would probably be wise to wait a week or two until the vendors all receive their stock so we can see what actual market pricing looks like.
There is still interference from the gasket, but I’m able to open the rambox lid fully and easily without popping noise. It may not be perfect, but it’s much better than the Retrax gasket design.
I’m not the author of this thread, but installed a Retrax MX which had the exact same issues with the Ramboxes as explained above. I just lived with it for a couple of months but felt like the Rambox use was limited so much by the cover that we stopped using them... they wouldn’t fully open...
Any information on that TSB#? I’d definitely like to give that a read to learn if I need to bring the truck in to receive it or if it’ll come out quickly as a OTA
Sorry to hear this man.. we’re on the same other thread and I’ve encountered the same issue on my 12” screen. Mine seems specific to Pandora stations, however, and definitely to XM radio. If I’m not using Pandora station, I’ve never encountered a lockup.
That said, I work in the electronics...
JMO, but depends on how good the deal is. If you save $1k more to get those 3.92 gears instead of the 3.21 option... that’s $1k worth of fuel... at $2/gal for gas right now and the minor difference in actual mpg, it’s going to be literally over 100k mi before you break even. If it’s everything...
Yep, also two of my favorite options... “issues” aside. If you spend enough time online and take all reviews to heart, you’ll lose enjoyment in just about any product design out there.
I still use my Ramboxes on nearly a daily basis. Absolute game-changer for my uses and I’d have a hard time...
It looks like they run sales on this particular model somewhat frequently. You’ll be able to find them between $1315-$1750 depending on the color chosen. Probably not out of line, but I’d also need new tires to fit them so more than I can justify just for different looks.
Now, I’ve seen the way...
Ive been seeing ads from the Venomrex VR-601 in desert bronze, and have to say I think they’re the best looking set of wheels I’ve found pictures of. That said, the price is awfully steep... I can’t see myself ponying up for them.
Yep, caught me mid-edit. Seems like the chart may be edited later, or they have a different 6112 coil for each of the 4 options. I’ll be interested to learn more once they’re available.
That chart is sure confusing... Is there a different coil supplied for each option? The suspension geometry of all 4 options should be the same, I expected. The difference in ORP/Rebel and non is in the spring design.
Cool, I wonder how much the top hat parts would be. The 6112s are only a tube, perch, and coil. You can disassemble your stock struts and reuse the top hat assembly, but the 6112 is not a full coil over.
I may be interested in building a 6112 coil over and selling my 5100 fully assembled struts.
So stinking jealous of that color... wish it came in Laramie trim.
What are the actual size of those tires? I’m running 33s on 18s (Rebel takeoffs) right now, but I’ll probably bump up a bit when I come due for tires. Considering going back to a 20” wheel when I do.
Any idea on price?
No, UCAs would not be required with 5100s or 6112s. Honestly I leveled my truck and brought it in for alignment and the tech hardly moved the cams at all. The ball joints are still at a very mild angle.
I did plasti-dip back in March and it’s already peeling from my front RAM emblems. Other emblems still look good, but I’m going to swap the front letters with something longer lasting.
