Not a big fan of the 1200 as it is.
However, what I would love is to have something like the 700 available for my son when he hits 16 in a few years. Also, these sell for less than $15K - surely some upgrades for US regulations and standards would still keep this at a very palatable entry-level...
I did doors and back wall, it felt like enough. Honestly since a lot of noise is wind noise, I'd tackle roof before floor if I were to go further. Maybe wih the exception of the front wheel wells.
Many thin "truck boxes" will fit behind the passenger side backseat, especially if you reroute / reconfigure the backwall-mounted wiring and go over the top of that vent. Driver's side as well if you don't have the battery pack. There's quite a bit of space and depth to work with back there; I...
Here are some pics of what it looks like back there - there are a number of metal stand-offs where the existing wire harness is attached via plugs... after moving/removing the wiring & plugs I screwed into these with metal self-tappers. Other folks have bolted on from the ledge above. Hope that...
The DSP I chose has high-level inputs that present a small resistive load, so I didn't need to use resistors... although I'm not 100% sure whether that applies to the Alpine too (I have the Base 6), someone else will have to chime in on that one. Good luck!
I ran fresh 10 gauge to all the speakers - the doors are a major PITA due to the tight rubber loom, and the passenger-side dash is also a challenge. It's completely possible though.
Well, I put Morel CAT 378's up there; had to grind down the faceplates down to fit properly.
Your choice will have to depend on your listening style, amplification, etc. A lot of folks like the Kickers, the JL's, the Focals, etc. etc. I personally needed a much more high-power application so I...
That's one way to go... personally I run the front and rear doors (8" mids) together on one pair of channels, and the dash on a separate pair of channels - this way I can electronically control distinct cross points & eq slopes by speaker type.
The base 6 system doesn't have dash center even though there's a grill there. The L and R dash grills pop/pry up from above, if I remember correctly they have 2 clips each.
Very easy to run new wire to left dash, but right dash is a PITA, you'll need something to fish with.
I was able to run 10 gauge to the doors, but not easily. There was a lot of swearing involved, it was one of the worst parts of the entire install!
The rubber loom from the body to the door is small and tight in the door jamb, and there are plugs connecting the outside and inside of the...
I believe the AmpPro is for preamp integration (ie Alpine amplified systems), I don't think that'll work for the base 6 (but I don't know that much about the unit or whether it has the high-level inputs / Line conversion that's needed).
I re-wired the whole truck as well, little 18 or 20 gauge...
Only the Alpine has a separate "factory amp", so this is incorrect for your application... it is the ANC under the seat; the head unit is amplified internally in the "Base 6". The base 6 is very easy to upgrade compared to the other higher-end systems, just your choice of ANC bypass and a Line...
Definitely recommend a DSP, there are a few common ones folks use (as you've seen in the thread) - the factory output is pretty wonky and having digitally adjustable xovers/slopes/eq's will help a lot with the levels, not to mention the ability to "sum" channels because the fronts and rears are...
Fishing wires to the passenger dash...
There will be swearing! :LOL::LOL::LOL:
The vents and glove box are right in the way and obstinate.
It's possible though - just not easy at all. I recommend heading generally towards the door from the top, and coming down inside that panel next to the...
