Vehicles have gotten much larger/heavier and more powerful. That 1989 Plymouth Acclaim generated a whopping 100hp and weighed less than 2800 lbs. A Honda Civic these days weighs a MINIMUM of 2800 lbs. And nobody will buy a car generating 100hp anymore. You'd probably have to use a 1.3L...
So what do you do with this paint protection film (PPF) when it gets ratty? Is it easy to remove? I've see plenty of used cars with this stuff kind of checkered and peeling. Doesn't look any better than a scratched car IMHO. If it's easy to remove (and potentially replace), that's different...
My perfect truck would be a Ram 1500 with a GM 6.2L sans Active Fuel Mgmt / Displacement-on-Demand, but a 6.4L Hemi would be quite tempting as well. On second thought, the new 7.3L Ford V8 gas motor would be my first choice.
IMHO, the Consumer Reports crown has tarnished beyond usefulness. When I bought my two Toyotas (RAV4 and 4Runner), I looked at carcomplaints.com for the two models and the number of complaints even relative to comparable Honda models was dramatically lower. Besides, I don't believe Consumer...
I have three other vehicles in the family: Mazda3, RAV4 and 4Runner. I expect the Mazda and RAV4 to be at least 15 yrs old when I get rid of them. I expect the 4Runner to be at least 20 yrs old. The RAM will be a 2-3 year "toy" which I will sell before it starts to come apart at the seams...
Understood. Ram (or any automaker) doesn't make much of anything anymore. They assemble. When I said "stop building" I meant I'm concerned that Ram will stop building eTorque vehicles soon.
My concern is that Ram will stop building these (eTorque vehicles) soon. They will move on to something else. Then we could end up owning "those oddball eTorques" that were only made for 4-5 years and for which the unique parts (i.e. generator unit and 48V battery) are scarce and expensive...
That's really a bummer. Pinging is so annoying and there is no excuse for modern vehicles to do it unless there is a (fixable) problem. I hope you don't get the same runaround from your dealer that I've gotten with prior vehicles that had this problem. They would run a few tests and check for...
