Yeah sounds like a crappy dealer. I cant believe they dont know by now that entry level analog controllers are not compatible. In my experiences it didnt hurt the ram systems and they were fine after the crappy controller was removed. Based on what youve told us here I would find a new...
@Franky350
The 275/60-20 is the same width as stock, they are just 1" taller overall. (33" vs factory 32") I went that route based on the advise of my tire guy, who said going wider tends to rub on the ram, unless you get wheel spacers (dont recommend those) or wheels with less offset. Ill get a...
Also the factory trailer brake harness is not that easy to find/get to, so really 100 bucks to connect a universal wiring harness to the factory plug isnt a bad deal. Would be easy to add any controller you wanted now
Here is a basic night shot. Clearly defined yellow to white gradient. Need to get a shot in the snow! The output is much easier on the eyes, thanks again for the tips $20 mod did it. Thought I was going to have to spend a couple hundred on new LED bulbs. I love how the yellow lens looks on a...
The features alone rival any OEM controller. Here are the specs from their website:
P3 the industries most advanced electric trailer brake control. A true proportional braking system, P3 has several added features, making it the new standard for electric trailer brake controls.

For what its worth the tekonsha P3 is a better controller than the factory, but I understand if you want to OEM look/function. But yeah the 5th gen ram hates cheap analog controllers!
Yeah $100 installed is cheap, they probably used the cheapest controller available. I paid around $150 just for the tekonsha P3 controller hardware, and installed it myself, but it was worth every penny.
Here is the thread with my findings. https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/aftermarket-brake-controllers-my-findings-bonus-factory-wiring-color-code.10970/
I had the same issue, I have a thread about it here somewhere. Turned out to be a cheap analog controller was the culprit. It was not working properly either. I ended up buying a tekonsha digital, installed that and it resolved all the issues. Night and day difference in brake engagement too...
Change your oil to some high quality full synthetic, and put some good 89 minimum octane in the fuel tank and the mileage will go up considerably in my experiences.
The xlt was like 150 more PER TIRE! And they werent in stock at the shop I went to. The xlt would be nice but they dont ride as nice as the 4s and are louder. I tow a handful of times a year, if I were towing everyday I probably would have got the xlt.
Had the front end up on ramps doing an oil change so figured I would install the lamin-x too. Slightly overcut, used some water mist and they installed pretty easy with no bubbles. Will try some pics and report back once I can try them in the dark lit up. Like the day look though.
This is an interesting thread, I own 2 fca vehicles (ram and jeep g.c.) both with the 8.4 nav and both have been pretty stable. The backup cam went out once in the jeep but it seemed to be a fluke as it never happened again. One thing ive noticed in this threat is only a few people are including...
