Ive posted a few other times about payload concerns with Ram, but everything else about the truck is the best i’ve seen in the market. Along comes Ford, though, and performs a major update on what I see as their biggest weakness - interior quality and fit & finish.
Id be ordering either in...
Still trying to get to the truth and this thread is fantastic. I dont own a truck yet, but this comes from shopping yesterday at one of the largest inventory dealers in the state.
Thanks. As we’ve discussed, this would be easier if sales and management were better educated on this topic. I’d more easily get talked into a Rebel, but not sure if that helps compared to a Laramie.
Roughly 7,000 lbs.
After adding in my wife, two boys, sometimes my mother, and our gear, etc, I wouldn’t want to be less than 1,500 payload. If I found a Hemi Longhorn at that capacity with air suspension, and 33 gallon tank, i’d take it. I’d also like moonroof, off road group, and ramboxes...
The good news is this thread and this forum stopped me from making a mistake. I sold my Grand Cherokee because it wouldn’t pull my enclosed car hauler well with the family all on board. It’s payload in Overland trim was 1100. I was all set on getting a Longhorn with air suspension, RamBoxes...
OK - I just spent the evening reading the other towing threads - especially the one detailing all the measurements and ratings. It sure seems like payload is a real problem. My question is how does Ford get their higher payload numbers on F150s? I had pretty much made up my mind on Ram 1500...
Yeah, track car/track weekends. I will be taking the family and our gear, though. Last time we took two tow vehicles - one for the boat and one for the car hauler. (Road Atlanta would be the only place I'd do this since it's so close to Lake Lanier.)
Compared to what the boys doing the IKE...
This is really helpful stuff, guys, thanks! I should've utilized the search function but I did look around the place before posting.
A 2500 would definitely do the job, but as someone mentioned the ride significantly suffers compared to 1500. At the end of the day, I want to be safe - so all...
I hear you, but this tells me I should be ok: https://www.ramtrucks.com/towing-guide.html Still waiting to hear anything official, though.
But even the salesmen are confused when we look at the sticker on the driver's door jamb vs. what the chart says. I know it depends on specific options, but...
New to trucks but here because of my Jeep Grand Cherokee - which I love - doesn't have the payload capacity and is at the top of my trailer weight to pull my Trailex enclosed car hauler. I'm pretty sure I've locked in on a Longhorn with 3.92 rear end, off-road package, 20" wheels (which will...
I’m in the same boat - ordering a 20 or waiting for 21. Apparently a Longhorn with off-road package, 33 gallon tank, Ram Boxes, 3.9 rear end, and saddle interior is a unicorn.
The question that one salesman claimed, is 21s will not be discounted. Time will tell.
I havent even ordered mine yet and this is one of the first mods I want to do. Love the truck but want everything that’s chrome to be gone. Would order the night package was I want a truck that isn’t all black and I want the off-road package. Can’t get both.
