The noise is more related to the tires than it is the size. On my Raptor I had BFG KO2’s and switched to Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They were the exact same size, but the Ridge Grapplers were noticeably louder.

My RAM is 4x4 so no regrets here. I do own a 4x2 truck though.....
