My 3.6L Big Horn is extremely loud around 2000 RPM and in that RPM range the truck vibrates - gas pedal, steering wheel, floor, drivers seat. It’s very fatiguing when cruising in that range, and is very obnoxious when accelerating and shifting through that range up to 8th. I do not believe this...
You may be surprised how much that front resonator mellows the sound. The corsa set on the Pentastar without a resonator was loud and harsh. A small bottle resonator ahead of the muffler like on the Hemis - just perfect. So the opposite might be needed in your case!
My truck with the 3.6L does this as well, the TCM has been flashed twice to no avail. I have an open case and I’m staying positive that FCA will help me through. Hang in there.
I have the 3.6L and mine does the same thing. "shudders" upon light/moderate acceleration with engine under load (either towing, or going up grade). I haven't looked under the hood, maybe there's a HEMI under there! :ROFLMAO:
For those with an OEM resonator ahead of the muffler, would you mind telling me the length? From weld on the inlet to weld on the outlet. Thanks in advance!
... asking for a friend ... :ROFLMAO:
Yep! It's an uncommon build (I'm guessing for obvious reasons - e.g. why not just get the EcoDiesel or HEMI?), but there are a few out there from what I've seen on the used market. Wondering if any owners subscribe...
I take mine in Monday to review similar issues. I have a 3.6L as well. Typically, mine stutters/surges most when cold, but I experience odd shifting behavior and engine vibrations on and off. RamCares helped me get a case submitted which I am looking forward to support from FCA. We’ll see Monday!
While I don’t have the 5.7, my truck with 3.6 does this when cold, and when accelerating on an incline, also with 4WD Auto engaged. Taking it in Monday for these issues and clunk/bump in the driveline...
I also read on the Jeep forums the cold hard shift issue may be related to low transmission fluid from the factory? I haven’t had mine checked yet, but maybe worth a check. Also I think the slip yoke on my driveshaft is bad. Either needs grease or replacement. It clunks when shifting between...
I’ve been noticing a surge/bump when cruising in 8th and then putting the pedal to the floor. It clunks/bumps then accelerates - the sensation is very jarring unpleasant. Doing the same in 7th, no bump/clunk. When moving the driveshaft with my hands manually under the truck, there definitely...
Hi there - I know it’s been a while, but any updates on your situation? I’ve been fighting the transmission/drive line in my V6 Ram as well. I’ve posted about it in a few threads. I received the updated TCM and PCM update, but the truck still shudders like I’m always driving in a headwind. I...
Just an update for the group. Because I have been trying to sneak out extra HP from my Pentastar Ram, I may have caused more problems all along than helped. Once I purchased the truck, I quickly installed a drop in filter and worked over the last few months to install a Corsa catback exhaust. In...
Thanks for the tip. I tried option 1 and 2 as you listed. I'll try anything to improve the hesitation/lag and hard up/down shifts... I hope I can Make My Ram Great Again... Well, maybe not again...
It’ll likely cost a fortune, but I’ll ask my dealer what it would cost to change the gear ratio. $2500? Too bad for such a cheap option. I don’t think the V6 can be built with 3.92 gears, just 3.21 and 3.55 from what I can tell. My truck is 4WD.
Oddly enough, my V6 with 3.21 gears stayed in 8th most of the time during a recent 2 hour highway trip. I was able to sustain 8th mostly cruising at 80. Now, it has been significantly cooler as of late so, perhaps the colder air or reduced need for A/C helped engine performance?
Still pretty...
