Most manufacturers are going this route. Removing that copper wire and connectors saves them a ton over the lifecycle of a model type. Then they can also charge people extra for it as an add-on kit.

If your truck did not come with the factory bed lighting then you won't have a harness. It does come with the Mopar kit though.

Your dealer has no idea what they are talking about. Aftermarket units can't be sales coded in to the truck and have on screen access. The factory model is the only one that can be integrated. Dealer would have to input the sales code or you can do it yourself with AlfaOBD.
