USB and CarPlay doesn’t work when hot outside.

Hmm. I guess that fits more with the tpms scenario or a timer than the independent sensor. I wonder then if it has to be below xx° for a given time, and/or an ignition cycle before it will turn back on.

USB and CarPlay doesn’t work when hot outside.

I suppose another potential trigger isn't based on the cabin temp sensor. The hub may have it's own sensor, and since that would be behind the dash/radio panels it makes sense that it wouldn't cool down as fast as the cabin. Plastic isn't a great thermal conductors so it'll take a bit for the...

USB and CarPlay doesn’t work when hot outside.

From what you guys are describing, I wonder if it's like the tpms alert. The numbers may not be exact because I'm going off memory, but it sounds similar. I was running the tires on my Jeep at 30 psi with no alert. When it got cool and they dropped below 28 psi the tire pressure light came on...

    Cell Phone Mount

I know this is an old thread, and a pretty old post, but do you still like the mount? Did you apply the 3M plate, or will the suction cup hold onto the plastic strong enough to hold the phone? This looks like it would be a nice (and affordable) way to see if I will like a phone mount instead of...

USB and CarPlay doesn’t work when hot outside.

That's a bummer. Worth a shot I guess, but no joy. The last time I saw 112° I was on a deployment. I've never had to deal with that kind of heat in Ohio and will probably never see those temps again. I know you guys laugh at us all winter long while we deal with snow and ice, but dang that...

USB and CarPlay doesn’t work when hot outside.

A random thought here, and it doesn't "fix" the problem, but a suggestion so you may be able to use Carplay when it's hot. Hit the remote start about 10 minutes before you leave. You get to get into a truck that isn't 100° (or more) and hopefully Carplay will work. IDK, I've never had the...

Cab Over America Cab Markers (LED)

Nice work on the template!! I've installed several sets of cab lights over the years and never took the time to do something like that. Way to help the community out.

Cab Over America Cab Markers (LED)

Well at least I was good for a laugh then. Sorry, I'm terrible with subtleties, sarcasm and hints, which are even harder to catch in writing so that's not uncommon for me on forums. But you got a laugh, and everyone else got some information on why cab lights are even a thing. So win-win...

Cab Over America Cab Markers (LED)

OP they look good. I've seen them too, but I couldn't bring myself to spend the money. Not that they're bad, just my own issues with them. Are you still happy with them now that they've been on your truck for about a month? That was one of my issue with them. Way too expensive, for having...

Largest tires on Stock Rebel suspension and wheels

Well that's interesting, I've never heard that they could do that. Guess I'll have to find one of those roadside speed signs and see if it matches the speedometer.

Largest tires on Stock Rebel suspension and wheels

No rubbing at all. I haven't done (and probably won't ever do) any serious off-roading with them, but I just went down the oil well access this morning to go fishing. Even with all the bumps and uneven terrain I didn't get any rubbing. Seems like a pretty solid choice. As for the Cooper vs...

Largest tires on Stock Rebel suspension and wheels

From a stock 275/70/18 Duratrac (33.2") to the 285/75/18 Cooper AT3 XLT (34.8") you're changing the tire diameter by about 5%. This will "fool" the truck into thinking it's going 5% slower than it actually is. While the difference is minimal, it could effect some of the "decisions" the truck...

Intro thread turned random progress updates

LOL yeah I was pleased with that as well. It's funny because after initially making and applying the decal I considered re-cutting it with the flag about an inch or so back so it was centered in the gap between the wheel well and the front of the bed. I kept procrastinating and never actually...

Intro thread turned random progress updates

Latest update. I just swapped out my 275/70/18 Wrangler Duratrac (33.2") for a set of 285/75/18 Cooper AT3 XLT (34.8"). Not a significant difference, but it didn't cost me much so why not go bigger. I bought the tires of craigslist for a smoking deal, and picked up another set of Rebel wheels...

Increasing MPG after installing lift and tires.

Good question. Do they get a loop hole by saying they assume the owner will have it adjusted? Similar to tint companies claiming they assume the 5% tint they install on all the windows (including the windshield) will be used off road only. How about the shop that lifts a truck so high it...

Help me identify 2 door car that attempted to steal catalytic converter

I absolutely agree that telling the neighbors year/make/model is less effective than the photo. They can watch for the s****bag car to roll through the neighborhood, and recognize from a picture. No issues there at all, and I agree it's the better choice for that aspect. As far as the police...

Increasing MPG after installing lift and tires.

Interestingly though the US code doesn't list that intent: "49 U.S.C. § 32703(2). A person may not— (1) advertise for sale, sell, use, install, or have installed, a device that makes an odometer of a motor vehicle register a mileage different from the mileage the vehicle was driven, as...

Increasing MPG after installing lift and tires.

Obviously it depends on each state what is considered odometer tampering but here in Ohio: 4549.42(A) No person shall adjust, alter, change, tamper with, advance, set back, disconnect, or fail to connect, an odometer of a motor vehicle, or cause any of the foregoing to occur to an odometer of a...
