I already had the AlfaOBD app and peripherals, in order to activate my trailer brake controller. Decided that, since it was essentially "free" to activate the security system, well... why not?
I don't care about glass break sensors, since they aren't going to prevent anyone from breaking a...
Another update:
Finally got my intrusion alarm to work. It actually worked the first time I tried, but I didn't realize there was a separate "switch" for the LED indicator, so I backed it out.
I don't really care about glass break monitoring anyway. Most anyone who breaks in is going to open...
I installed my liners a few weeks ago, while I had the wheels off to replace the springs.
I removed the original front pieces completely and "split" the rear pieces. Seemed like that was the only way the replacements would fit correctly.
I think I paid ~$150 for mine, shipped. Thought I bought...
Finally got my refund, on Tuesday.
I have to believe that they actually refunded "ahead of" the dispute. Regardless... It's a hell of a way to do business.
Hah! That's a heck of an idea!
(Don't feel bad. I misread a FB meme yesterday, about "new boots", and thought it said "new boobs".)
I'm interested in this too. Curious if we need the "anti-flicker" modules, as well. (I have AlfaOBD, so I may be able to change my settings. Just wondering if it's worth the trouble, for the long term, to do that instead of using the modules.)
Yeah... Took me the better part of an afternoon to do mine, including the installation of the wheel well liners. But I wasn't in a huge hurry, either. Took the time to consume a couple of adult beverages as I was winding it down.
Was still easier than replacing the springs on my Trailblazer.
I have never heard anything good about using wheel spacers, other than cosmetics. They add another potential failure point. OTOH, I've never heard of one breaking.
They WILL add unsprung weight, and can place additional load (through leverage) on your front wheel bearings. Since the rear is a...
So... how long did it take to get your refund credited to your card?
They told me 15 business days. Still haven't seen it.
I just emailed them and told them that I would be disputing the charge, tomorrow.
I'm almost sorry I bought this G-D truck.
Success! Added my trailer brake controller. The hardest part was finding the "ITBM" line in the dropdown. Making the changes was quite simple. I also got the security system to operate, but it was not exactly right, so I backed it out. Will revisit it when I have a bit more time.
Thanks all!
I have cut coils on several of my cars, with very good results. The key is, you can't get carried away, and you have to do it right. Use a cutoff wheel or a sharp saw. Try to impart minimum heat into the wire. (Don't EVER use a torch. It will ruin the spring.)
A lot of people will argue against...
It would appear that it varies by model. I've got a Bighorn Sport, and the only ambient lighting I'm aware of is in the overhead console, shining down on the center console, in front of the HVAC controls. Works just fine, even at full intensity. (I don't even notice it when I'm driving.)
I installed the hardware a couple of weekends ago. Flashed the controller in, last night.
Now, all I need is a trailer to plug in to it. :D
Thanks to everyone who contributed. It was a bit "dicey" (or at least that was my perception) at first, but it worked flawlessly. The hardest part was...
That kind of speaks volumes.
I have done similar work, as well as printed circuit repair/troubleshooting. Seeing how much grief it gave you certainly doesn't inspire me to want to add that to my truck. Some things are just not worth the trouble.
I tip my hat to the trail-blazers and pioneers...
Wow... Nice what you can find when you look around a bit.

Update...
I got AlfaOBD, and the required bits and pieces, and got the VTA programmed (tested and worked) but I did NOT get the instrument panel "security" indicator. So I backed it out. (There were a couple of options that I didn't recognize. One of which included "ITM", I think. But the system...
