Do they actually drop out when you turn the turn signal on?

No. I left it leather/wood. Mine doesn’t get very hot. And I think the heating element is going out at the top anyway. I am hoping the thing will get significantly hotter than it is now. We’ll see in the morning.

So you did have condensation at one point? I’m not sure it won’t happen again. Have you tried spraying water directly in the screw holes? Hopefully it’s all gone but I’d want to make sure if it were me.

Alright, so I’m a cheapskate and couldn’t stomach the idea of an OEM $400 light. I decided to silicone the hell out of the screw holes. I hit it from both sides of the light. Front and back. I used a q-tip on the front to keep from getting any silicone on the front of anywhere visible in the...

So the replacement light has the same issue. This time I sprayed water from a spray bottle into the screw holes. There’s actually standing water inside of the light now. Below the bed lights and above the brake light. I’m not sure if it’s the screws damaging the light or just faulty seals around...

It’s the screw holes that are the problem. When you screw in the screws it makes little shavings as you go through the plastic. I went to blow them out and they blew right inside the light. In the pic, the little piece of plastic that I’ve circled is inside of the housing.

Also, I noticed two more breakaway points on the top of the light, where it would be behind the top of the cab. I decided to silicone all three spots. I’m not going to silicone the entire light. We’ll see if it makes a difference.

I just got off the phone with Recon. They said they’ve sold thousands of these particular lights; that they can barely keep them in stock. They said the breakaway point on the mold is normal and shouldn’t be a concern. They also said they’ve only had a couple issues with moisture and it...

Not yet. I was waiting for it to warm up. I think I’m going to call and speak with someone and tell them about my concerns and that of the other members on here and see what they come up with. I’ll report back after my phone call tomorrow.

Do you suspect that is the point where the moisture is getting in?

It looks like these lights definitely have a repeated issue. I guess I’ll just silicone the replacement unit I got and call it a day. It looks like the gasket on the new one is not as thick as the original. Still pretty beefy and should do the job well but less risk of damage getting it flush.

If you have the same damage/imperfection that I have you’ll be able to see it with the light installed. It’ll be on the bottom of the light around the middle right side. At the edge of the plastic.

So I got my replacement light today. Looking at the bottom of the light I noticed a section of the clear plastic on the bottom of the light that was damaged. It’s about an inch long and looks like it was hit with a hammer or something. I noticed that exact same piece of cracked/crumbled...

I’m 99% sure I didn’t crack mine. I didn’t hear anything and I don’t see anything. I sent them the pictures of moisture I had in mine. They sent me a replacement that will he here Tuesday and a prepaid label to ship the old one back. If you’re having an issue too I’m guessing it’s a flaw or...

It’s just moisture buildup. No actual standing water in there or anything. I haven’t tried reaching out. I’m not sure what they would do anyway.

So…I don’t think I cracked the light on install but maybe I did. But this is something everyone may want to keep an eye on. Noticed this after washing my truck today. Doesn’t seem to be any sign of water inside the cab. But who knows.
