That’s not an absolute whe using a wired connection. It’s part of the protocol but is not mandated. It IS an absolute when connected Wirelessly to CarPlay
I’ve had muliple iPhone modles running a wide variety of IOS versions.no issues with any map program with CarPlay. The thing is, it could be a CarPlay issue or the phone software. If you happen to have access to another vehicle with CarPlay, that‘s the best way to see if it’s the phone or not.

I’ve used mine with 4x4 in some really deep sand on Padre. Worked great. And that was 4x4 high. and it some deep mud I “found” and just had to try. Both times, worked great
Every manufacturer is like that. I the dealer can’t perform warranty work unless the mfg approves. And usually, if there‘s no code, the mfg won’t approve. I’ve had this issue with 3 companies, not just FCA.
