Here's what I *really* want to know. A dealer has a truck built/ordered, so it's not sitting on his lot costing him money. He sells a 68k truck for 52.5k WITH the 0%/84 months. Invoice price minus holdback is about $60k cost to the dealer - no other incentives are available with the 0%/84...
YOLO baby. Spending a few more dollars to get the exact truck you want makes WAY more sense to me than settling just to get a better discount. I've always caved when they have had the exact vehicle I wanted and never once regretted it.
Based on my deal (posted above) I think this is a very good. I got 14.04% off MSRP and 0%/84 deal, but I bought the truck the GM has been driving, so a "demo", which takes a couple grand off the equation. I did not get a stellar number for my trade, but it was in the realm of reasonable.
As an update, a representative from dealership came to my house today (weird with masks and Purell) for me to look over the truck, test drive, and sign the paperwork. Nice guy, not a sales guy. I asked him how things were going and he said they essentially laid off all the showroom sales...
And with the factories shut down, they will run out of vehicles to sell, then price won't matter much if there's no option for a sale. I think the car dealers are in for some real tough times over the next 12 months. I'm sure the government will offer another bailout / cash for clunkers, etc...
I thought it was pretty good, they were certainly willing to let me walk if I didn't take it, so I don't think there was much more in that deal, but you never know.
I'm going to assume that people getting $15k off are not getting the 0%/84 mo deals. I pressed hard on some dealers yesterday and the best deal I got was $10k off MSRP on a $71,500k truck where I would still get the 0%/84 deal. Other dealers told me to go pound sand, so I'm assuming I've...
Thank you Jeepdinger! Very helpful. I don't need to get the absolute best deal around, I just want a good deal, and was hoping to get $10k off a 72k truck, reasonably fair deal on my trade, and the 0%/84 months. Your information leads me to believe I can make that happen. Certainly with a...
Along these lines, I'm struggling to figure out a good deal that includes the 0% / 84 months. If I want that deal I'm seeing people offering $5k off a 70k+ truck (just their own dealer discounting) and not much else. Two questions for you folks: What's the best discounting you have seen that...
