snapping like that would lead me to believe the "shank and ball" portion of the joint was colliding into the shoulder of the socket ... sort of bottoming-out so to speak. maybe at full or near full droop? how else would it see such high sheer loads if this wasn't the case?

off road package shocks seem pretty good to me. I have yet to do a speed bump test ... to me thats a really good way to feel the action of the shocks. but for everyday driving, on rough roads, my 2" drop springs (3" total for an off-road package truck) feel good, and no complaints thus far.
Hugely disappointed in the gauge brightness as well. There should be an ambient light sensor that controls the interior lighting. That way, even if you have your lights on during dawn / dusk, your gauges can run independent of them
If you can live with rake (or like it as I do) then I'd recommend 2" rear drop springs paired with 2" drop struts for the front.
4" rear drop is a lot and you end up having to swap a lot of stuff. Plus you lose a ton of truck functionality. A 2/2 drop is simple and keeps the truck functional...
I can manage to keep Eco mode on for most of my daily drive ...
Now, if I can also to manage to keep a car for more than 2 years, I'd be interested to see how my lifters sound once the mileage racks up.

Plastic bumpers and metal body will never match, at least not on everyday cars like the trucks we drive. I work for Lexus and they're fanatics about everything they do, their paintwork is no exception. Their bumpers don't match either.
