Nothing that can be shared, if known, I suspect. We’ll know eventually. Suspicions will be more or less confirmed when spy shots of real world test vehicles start making their rounds - and if it’s anything like the 2019 1500 release, there will be no shortage of complaints until the official...
I would be pleasantly surprised to see side exhaust on the production truck just due to heat in proximity to the tires.
That said, the Viper had side exhaust for many years, so it is not entirely implausible.
I’m curious about how different the production truck will be from this rendering as it...
Hard to tell. FCA doesn’t break out truck sales by 1500/2500/3500 models, my cursory review of local dealers is like looking at the universe through a straw, and local markets could vary widely in vehicle allocations on lots.
That said, the clear majority of truck sales are light duty and since...
Ok, I remember where I saw it - local dealer sites current inventory. First one I checked had 8 2500s on the lot, compared to 185 1500s.
Hardly a reliable source since that could just be the local trend.
I would be surprised (shocked) to see the DT Ram Rebel TRX in January, but I expect we will see the DS based concept make an appearance. I suspect the only reason we didn’t see it in January 2018 was the focus on the DT rollout. I can see why FCA wouldn’t want the unavailable TRX taking the...
The numbers I saw were near, if not actual, single digit values if I recall. Perhaps someone else has some recent and reliable info?
It has been a while and I don’t recall where I saw it, but the overwhelming majority of truck sales were 1500s - it surprised me, which is why I remembered it.
Will and should the TRX make an appearance at the Detroit 2019 Auto Show next January now that FCA has gone public with the production plans?
I say, yes, it should.
The heavy duty market is a small percentage of truck sales and the TRX brings attention to and excitement for the Ram brand. It...
This isn't "news" to 5thgenrams.com readers, but it is confirmation of what has been long rumored. It was somewhat obvious given the financial success of the Raptor. But, it is nice to be able to post this on all those forums claiming Ram wasn't going to build it. They can all suck a bucket...
Yep, still quite busy (this whole year is something of a loss regarding free time), but yes, very excited to see public confirmation of what 5thgenrams has been telling us for some time!
Rear wheel horsepower/mpg?
I seem to recall an article someone else posted about how adding bigger tires decreases rear wheel horsepower and fuel mileage. One could reasonably conclude that going the other direction would have the opposite effect (which may have factored into marketing numbers...
Same here, but, for two reasons, I'll be going red next time:- Ram Rebel TRX looks astounding in that 30 coat red and I'm having a very hard time picturing it in any other color (and I've since grown very fond of Del Monico Red).- I've been driving a blue bomber since late 2002, time for a change.
The first non-automotive reference citing 5thgenrams (that I am aware of):

The more I think about it, it doesn't need to be an either or scenario regarding the suspension. It is possible that the Ram Rebel TR could have a more agressive suspension than the standard Rebel, but much less agressive than the TRX. Something along the lines of - the same body style as the...

Certainly plausible. My uninformed hope is that both would have the suspension with the primary differentiator being the engine and perhaps some interior features, but . . . from what I recall, the suspension bits from the concept amounted to about $20,000 (which seams reasonable given that is...
