Agree with you. It sounds like the dealer misinterpreted and messed up. But why can't we just get a clear answer from anybody what the level is supposed to be (and on what trucks) as it is obvious that it was changed somewhere along the line?

You have narrowed the window of when the sticker changed to somewhere between May and November 2018.

If the brackets at cab are necessary to reduce force when the tailgate swings open, it might make sense that it doesn't get optioned onto the long bed. Longer bed = longer lever arm = more force applied.
