I totally agree with that clean and full comment. I pound the you-know-what out of my Audi. Full throttle take offs several times per drive and zero issues with the turbo, interior of the engine is crystal clean after 80k miles and zero and I'm talking zero MILs. So this b/s of keeping the oil...
I gotcha. Yeah my own take is yes the thicker grades probably do "smooth out" engine noise overall. But the way I understood the lifter issue was that you want the thinner grade. Note: if I were doing HD use I'd go heavy for a cycle for sure. I believe the issue is that when these things idle...
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w20 comes up a lot. Anyone pound the you-know-what out of their hemi, or worse, sit idling for days!!!! and have no issues after putting in Pennzoil Ultra Plat?
Is there a generally regarded "best" oil for the 5.7 engines? I know for Audi you should run (not walk) from what the dealer's use and only ever use Motul 8100, amazing oil that's also cheaper than the more well marketed brands. Anyways, any pro star hemi heads out there that swear by a...
I know the exact truck you have. DAM that's a slick rig. For me I flip flop between your truck, the black LTDs or LHorns without the body colored bumper, and then white ones with the body colored bumper. Is tricoat white some specialized white or is it just a marketing gimmick?
What's the consensus on the body colored bumper? I like it but I will admit to liking the full chrome look on the LTDs and LHorns. It's sharp and seems to suit the truck. The only way I would eat the cost of the body color bumper is with a white one. I would skip on the tricoat ivory white and...
Ok thanks. A/s is a standard option on the LTD in my local market. You have to pay a fee to get it deleted and replaced with coils. I'd never do that because in my mind that would be stupid even if, down the road, the system would be needing for some expensive repairs. The only actual experience...
Sorry and to clarify the issue further, let's remove money and functionality from the discussion. IF I was to ask PURELY which Gen 5 suspension set up, coils or a/s had the "Superior" ride quality, which would it be. And feel more than free to outline what "Superior" even is to yourself.
Sorry but that's a complex, long winded response. I don't mind the length mind you...but the complexity was a bit much. Only words I understood were MONEY and "Not even close in fact" in connection with the other incumbents. What is "freshening"??? NO CLUE what you mean by that. None in fact.
Is this air suspension system a soft cushy ride or a hard firm ride? Roads in my area suck...massive pot holes, lotta expansion joints, train tracks...cracks. I feel like the a/s would be smoother in this environment but now I'm not sure. I read one reviewer who said it was "crashy" compared to...
Wow what's Open Pilot? My GV80 has the stuff where it drives itself but this sounds even better. But yeah if you option up a Laramie then might as well get a LTD. A/S in Gen 5s is apparently way more durable and reliable than Gen 4.
I think the issue here, and I say this as an Audi and GV80 owner, is how much of a beating is this truck going to take? Most people buy trucks because they DON'T want their Audi or GV80 getting pounded over the years. If that's the case, go with a low option Laramie and save your money. Speaking...
Yeah I can appreciate that. I always read the owner's manual of every car I own and just stick with that. But I guess with the hemi "tick" its sort of a widely reported problem and so to me, to me, if using higher end oil prevents or delays the tick (i.e. somehow "better" lubricates the roller...
Okay but as far as engines in the larger category go, these are two good ones no? The 5/7 and the 6/4? The higher quality oil issue is pretty easy to solve: just use better oil or do some research into which oil has been shown to lengthen the life span of the roller pins. One fellow on YouTube...
I guess what I am asking is, the 5.7 would appear to be a VERY good v8 but for these two issues. IF and this is what I do not know for sure, those issues can be solved with only top spec oil and premium fuel then that's a pricey (but really easy if you have the $$$) solve no?
