First, I wouldn't suggest letting any known issue wait. " a stitch in time saves 9"
second, if you got through a lemon case, why on earth would you go back to the same poisoned well as before?
3.92, 15.4mpg on the dash today.
the first few weeks I had it I was at 12.8. either it's breaking in or I'm getting more easy on the pedal. I've also already done my first oil change 2kmi early, that may have changed things since the shipping oil is out.
the fob and truck rf hub are designed specifically to send out a weak enough signal and use antennas that are low enough gain to effectively limit the range of the communication. the hack is to pick up those weak signals using an sensitive radio with good antennas, and then blast that signal...
the equipment used is pretty straightforward usually as a pair of software defined radios (SDR) that are each coupled to sets of directional antennas to set up a relay between the fob and the truck where they would normally be out of range of each other. the attacker doesn't even need to know...
it is a challenge/response system.
the truck sends out a beacon "challenge" to any keys listening nearby.
the fob listens for the challenge, (listening takes far less power than transmitting) and when it hears the challenge, it responds with its secure information.
the hack is when you take an...
Cloning the key.
Using a directional antenna and amp to extend range for challenge/response between they key and truck.
Tow truck Jacking.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
As for deterrents, the more gaudy and visible they are, the more effective they will be. this is where crap like the...
Considering your concern, I would suggest as a precaution to heck the levels on the fluids at each fuel stop. If anything changes, you can deal with it straight away. maybe even consider using a common cloth for all the oil level checks so you can see if it suddenly darkens or something like that.
I am considering going up and running a bead of silicone around there and the antenna to ward off the evil. it seems a lot easier to do it before I have a problem and have to deal with the fallout.
USB ports, try to get a USB powered light and plug it into the port. if the light flickers as you drive, you are losing the power lines for the USB. if the light stays lit while your device loses connection, you are losing data signalling...
There's been a fair amount of discussion on the air suspension not holding up well in freeze climates. From what I have read the system doesn't have a moisture purge and ice can build up and damage the valves for the system. you may want to consider some kind of aftermarket way of keeping out...
Sign me up. I'd be thrilled to not have to put up with jackwagons in heavy commute traffic. Facebook can wait, oatmeal is not my food, The rest sounds amazing.
I have the bells and whistles on mine and quite simply, those are not the parts I am really having the most problems with.
My them that has, has trouble is with core features more than anything. Engine cooling, Transmission, brakes, body mounts. Sure I have a greater cross section of exposure...

this also suggests that there is a longer version of the cable for run back to the trailer.
