Oh man, the pass through sockets are like a necessity. In the rear all I did was swap the shocks with the 5100s. Honestly, if you want the rear a bit higher just get a set of 1” lift springs and swap the shocks for 5100s. They accommodate an inch or two of rear lift.
Did you not have a set of pass through sockets for breaking down the shocks? Makes getting the seized top nut off a breeze. Highly recommend a set for any DIY 5100 install. Truck is looking good! My first go round with the bilsteins I did front and rears and it took me about 10 hours, I recently...
@DarkKn1ght @jl13 Switched my bilsteins to setting #4 from #5 over the last couple nights. So far I haven't had the thumping issue I had before. The truck actually feels a bit more planted. I enjoy setting #4 much more than #5 after a brief test drive. The swap gets much easier the more you do...
Just keep an eye out for someone selling them locally after removing them. Happens quite a bit. Or look on ebay, i found a set of the older OEM black steps on there for a great price. $300-350 i believe including shipping.
Yes. You need to use the spring perch adapters on ORG trucks. The OEM ORP shock diameter is different than the 5100 shock diameter which requires you to use the adapter.
I have etorque. The start/stop is very smooth. If the start/stop in this truck was abrupt or rough I would have skipped the option right away. Although, my opinion on this would change if the battery pack goes out and my truck has to wait for parts for an extended period of time.
Not a problem. I know the clocking of my springs is pretty similar to how they were on the stock shocks. They may be rotated 1/2" but nothing major. Appreciate the input!
I have checked the UCA and spring clearance at full droop and its not close to touching. This was one of my first thoughts though. What do you mean about the notch on the lower spring perch? The pocket that the coil sits into?
The MPG certainly won't improve by going to a 3.92 but going to 35s/37s and a 6 inch lift on 3.21 gears is generally a terrible idea. The truck might never shift into 8th gear again with that setup.
Just going to throw this out there as I have seen 2 or 3 people dent their hoods removing this part when I was researching it to do myself. Pull the heat shield off from underneath the hood to cut the 4 clips accessible. Also, this is pretty obvious but don't put any downward pressure on the...
Sorry to revive an old thread. However, I have the ORP with bilsteins on setting #5 and get the same issue as the OP. Its a jarring thunking noise when going over speed bumps or potholes at a decent speed. It seems to occur when the suspension is full droop. At this point I have checked the...
