Rough Downshifting Coming to a Stop

That's not a bad idea. Copper anti-seize might be the ticket, and that stuff is fairly long lasting as well. I think another member here tried that and said he had no issues after. It's just a bit expensive for how much is likely needed for such an application.

Rough Downshifting Coming to a Stop

Yes, I noticed this as well. It was fine for most of winter and early spring, but as it got hot here in Virginia, it became noticeably worse.

Rough Downshifting Coming to a Stop

My drive shaft has been replaced, and greased twice. It's still doing it, attempt #4 now - dealer told me they've done everything FCA told them to do, and that I should contact FCA directly. This is shameful. I also have the dreaded but common rear window surround crack... I am so over this...

Rough Downshifting Coming to a Stop

Hey friend, I'm sorry your dealer is being like that. You may wish to message RamCares on here. They will get you in touch with a customer service agent, who can get you a little better service most likely. I contacted them for my third repair, and the CS rep was great - she even got me squared...

Actuator noise after truck shuts off

If it sounds like a space ship landing, it's the parking brake actuating when you put the truck in park. :)

    Differential or Transmission Clunk

Thank you Mark. I will PM you.

    Differential or Transmission Clunk

Mark, thank you for the reply. As an update, unfortunately, I can replicate the issue again. We had a beautiful day yesterday here in Virginia, 80 degrees and sunny, so I went for a drive. The higher temperatures always made this problem worse, and it seems to have returned. It is not as severe...

    Metallic rattle with moderate throttle

Mine did this until I started going to 91 and 93 octane fuel exclusively. It's definitely pinging. Makes sense though, as the 6.4L Hemi needs minimum of 91 octane, whereas the 5.7L it's based off of / has similar compression ratios to, is supposed to "be able to"use 87 but "recommends" 89...

    Differential or Transmission Clunk

Well, I got my truck back on Wednesday. The problem appears to be resolved - and I did plenty of driving in this warm weather after I picked it up, to confirm. They took the driveshaft apart again, and per @tcutlip89's repair method of greasing it up even more, this seems to have solved it. I'm...

    Differential or Transmission Clunk

It's a poor design. If it requires the regular greasing that it seems to, there should be zerk fitting there. And when you think about it, we have 3-piece drive shafts when you factor in that rear slip yoke - that's a lot of places for something to go wrong.

    Differential or Transmission Clunk

Thanks. I think the mistake was them reusing the driveshaft that had 10k+ miles of unlubricated slip yoke action going on. I can only imagine there's some galling and abnormal wear from that. They should've ordered a new drive shaft, torn it down to grease it up, and put that on the truck. They...

    Differential or Transmission Clunk

That was repair attempt #2 by the dealer. It did nothing to solve it for me unfortunately. It was a smoother bump, but still quite pronounced.

    Differential or Transmission Clunk

Just as an update, my dealer still has my truck as of Wednesday (03/11). They acknowledge the issue, and still agree it isn't normal (like the previous 2 times). I also enlisted RamCares, who was very responsive and set up a case number for me. A case officer from FCA called me within hours of...

    Rear end clunk

Mine's in right now for the THIRD attempt to fix this. Attempt #1: new drive shaft, June 2019 [this fixed it for about 500 miles] Attempt #2: greasing the internal slip yoke on rear part of drive shaft, Oct/Nov 2019 [this did nothing but make the bump smoother, but it was still bad] It began...

    Starting/stopping driveline stutter

Sorry it took so long, but I finally have enough of a lull in my schedule to take the truck in for it's third attempt to get this bump to go away. I am dropping it off on Friday morning, and the same technician (who happens to be the shop lead) will be looking at it again, since he knows the...

    26 gal tank??

Don't you start bringing logic and reason into here.. Folks, unless someone is out back having to PUSH you to the gas pump, you're not ever going to fill up to the full tank capacity. It's pretty common practice for the gas light to come on when 3-4 gallons of fuel remain. That would explain...

    Metallic rattle with moderate throttle

Mine does it too, and it sounds exactly like pinging. I use 89, and have since day one. I had other cars that would do this, and just blame the crappy fuel we have with the ethanol cut into it. I'll try 91 whenever I feel like I've got some loose change laying around, to see if it makes a...

    Starting/stopping driveline stutter

I’ll be scheduling my third visit for this now. It’s back as harshly as ever. They swapped my driveshaft around 8k, was back a few hundred miles later, and they pulled my slip yoke boot to grease it. The grease made it less harsh but didn’t fix it.

    Oil Leak??

Of course sir, I'm watching all the things that have gone wrong with yours, and I truly hope they do something for you at this point. This is just too much. My 4WD auto makes noise as well, and on tight turns even gives some sensation of binding. I haven't had this oil show up though. I would...

    Oil Leak??

Being the skid plate that covers the oil pan / steering area, I could see it being engine oil. Pulling the oil filter will make an absolute mess there after doing an oil change. I have to wipe mine down every single time the dealers do it as it will look the same. However, I would check the...
