So, do you have a high pitched noise at one specific speed, or do you get multiple instances of that noise coming from the rear differential?
Any gear whines as well?
What is your dealer doing to correct the probkem?
Thanks.
Hi Nate,
I really appreciate your help and your kindness.
I love this truck and would buy another one in a heartbeat. I just got a bad one.
I'm hoping to meet up with the Chrysler area rep within the next few weeks to get all the Differential malfunctions fixed.
Chrysler Enhanced Customer...
So, possibly this defect only exists with the 12" screen. You really have to wonder if they test this stuff before releasing it. I haven't heard of any update to correct the delay issue either.
I would be most appreciative of any help I could get. My service manager is going to set up a meeting with me and the Chrysler area manager to try and accomplish something with my truck.
The paint is the least of all issues, but still requires attention. My truck is quite a lemon. Simple...
I just informed my service manager today. I am waiting for the Chrysler area manager to look at my truck again. The paint isn't the only issue. I have quite the list, such as front and rear differential stuff. Rudimentary things that should not be screwed up.
I will keep you informed when I...
My Ivory Tri Coat has yellowed on the plastic parts quite a bit over the 10 months of ownership. The truck spends most of it's life under a shared carport. I'm waiting for Chrysler to fix differential issues. Here is a picture of the color change. The wheel arches, front facia and ram box lids...
Here is another complaint!
It's not bad enough that my truck has issues with rudimentary things like rear and front differebtuals that I've been trying since early June to get Chrysler to fix ....
Now my Ivory Tri Coat Pearl paint is badly discoloring and turning yellow on all the plastic...
Frustrating is an understatement! This truck has been plagued with issues. The differential issue (just one of many issues) has been since day 1 of ownership. I waited until early summer to take it into the dealer because I knew I would have to deal with B S. Like this.
The service manager...
That's good to know. Thanks for educating me in that. The more knowledge I have, the more it will help me when trying to get Chrysler to make this right.
At this point I will not be happy until they replace the entire rear axle/differential assembly. There is no way a dealer shop can replicate...
The rear differential is definitely messed up. The original noise was made much worse after the rebuild, plus new noises are now existing after the rear diff rebuild.
As far as the noises when 4WD Auto is engaged, it could be the transfer case. I don't know at this point.
Unfortunately after the dealer rebuilt the rear differential, I've literally got all the symptoms that you described. I've got gear noise upon acceleration and deceleration along with the harmonic resonances at the particular mph's that I listed. It's a real mess.
A level 3 technician at the...
Thank you. I appreciate all the replies. This will help me a great deal when I return to the dealer, meet up with the Chrysler rep and try to hopefully and finally get this truck repaired correctly.
I'm going to try and make that happen this time (replace the entire assembly with one directly...
Thanks for input. I think my noise and now noises are just an anomaly to this particular axle/differential. I was really hoping they all weren't that way. That's why I started this thread. I wanted se to make sure there were good set-ups out there.
Thanks to all for input.
Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. I believe what you are saying. I really doubt if the dealer service department is going to get the rear diff as precise as it came from the factory.
I'm going to ask that they replace the entire rear axle/differential as a factory complete unit...
Does anyone who has a 3.92 Rear end get any kind of high pitched noises or gear whines?
I originally had a high pitched noise from the factory at 43 - 44 mph. The Chrysler rep drove my vehicle and had the dealer replace the rear ring & pinion plus associated bearings.
After the rebuild, I now...
You won't get any argument from me on poor quality. The assembly quality on my $70,000 Longhorn was abysmal.
Luckily, my dealer was able to fix most of the interior alignment, squeaks and rattles. Now it's the important stuff that makes it a truck - the mechanicals, that are being difficult to...
