Spoke to adviser late this PM. 3rd day with dealer having truck. They are not sure what the issue is. Could be 1 of a few different things, he said. They are working with STAR / FCA but no solution yet. If they don't hear anything by tomorrow morning the plan is to open a case with FCA...
My adviser just called. They are still looking at it, and gave some random BS response stating their service manager is still talking it over with the quality controls guy. Lots of nice words that either mean 1) they haven't looked at it yet or 2) they know about the problem but don't have a...
Service adviser got back to me late yesterday stating a low level tech test drove it and thinks he can hear something but not sure. ???? Must be very low level tech. LOL
They are waiting for a level 1 tech (whatever that is) to test drive it this morning and report back. If they state it...
I am 100% certain that on cold mornings the fan would not blow hard until the truck warmed up. A few weeks ago I noticed that it started to blow hard no mater what the temp was (especially when cold). I shrugged it off as a setting I may have inadvertently changed, but after reading the...
Will do.
Just so happens I dropped truck off this morning. Yes - it took over a month to get an appointment with a local dealer. Ugh....
Service adviser said it may take a day or 2 for a level 1 tech to inspect the issue. I'm in a loaner (Jeep Wrangler) so although I don't care if it takes...
Doesn't anyone wonder why the mfg has decided to no longer include these on builds? Is it to save money where it is no longer needed, or is it to address a safety concern (i.e. debri getting caught between bed and cab on top of this seal)? Must be a reason, and I want to believe its not to...
I had the same road noise, ordered the seal but haven't installed it yet. I did, however, install a Magnaflow cat-back and since then the road noise is no longer an issue. LOL.
Will probably install the seal anyways since I have it.
Clarification noted. Thanks! :)
I agree that an IFS axle housing is a pain to swap. The whole unit needs to come down unlike a conventional axle where you pull the cover and disassemble while the axle is still in the truck. The term 'welded shut' got me running down a path I didn't want to...
Although I have not taken apart a 2019 RAM front diff that makes absolutely no sense and question any service department that makes said statement. I'd get a 2nd or 3rd opinion and at minimum stay clear of whomever made that statement.
I've done a bunch of gears on AAM axles, Ford 8.8 and 9"...
IMO, fuel mileage is more dependent on driving style then you may think. I believe 3.92 can achieve better overall mileage than 3.21 in a split city/highway scenario if you live near or in hilly terrain and drive 70 mph or under on the highway. This is my theory. MDS seems to kick off around 71...
I think we are talking apples and oranges here ???
Just to clarify I am not suggesting its ok to exceed equipment load limits especially in a commercial scenario. I am saying the GCVWR that everyone is holding as bible is not a legal hard limit, and not enforced by DOT, LEO or highway patrol...
I'd just tow with the 3.21 and see how it does. Play with locking out 8th or 7th if you have to and find the sweet spot for your speed. Will 3.92 work better? Sure but is it worth it? Up to you.
I think people (especially the 'weigh' police) get their panties in a knot when people go close...
I agree on the mpg difference. Unless you live in a very flat area and drive all highway I feel the 3.92 is the better all around option.
As for the $95 option that is all BS. Its the same gear set just different ratio. Can't believe they are charging us anything for the option. Upgrade...
I think one needs to be careful with snapshot numbers as above. The above test and numbers show a difference under specific conditions. Under normal driving conditions (true tank-to-tank average that includes warm-ups, city, etc) the delta maybe larger or smaller so the above shouldn't be used...
Dealer just came down another 1k to $76k. These specialty trucks have a weird used market. Cars are different and I'm sure Demons, Redeye, etc will hold their value (maybe) but trucks.......need to be careful. That is why I would use caution when stepping into one of these trucks especially...
I don't know what the sale numbers are for the Raptor but the Trackhawk is around 7,000 units total for 2018 world-wide with total Grand Cherokee US sales around 225k units. I think the states got around 4,000 and change of the Trackhawks. Those are not HUGE numbers at all, and IMO not worth...
If the TR (700+HP street version of the RAM) was available I'd certainly have gotten one. Instead I purchased a 18 TrackHawk thinking this would work until the TR or TRX gets released as a truck fits my lifestyle much better (tows more, carriers more, etc). TrackHawk was nice, filled my speed...
Sounds like the issue I am having which is different then the transmission downshifting and causing the truck to slow down quickly. That is a symptom of having a high rear axle gear ratio and high 1st gear trans ratio where the motor has a huge mechanical advantage to spin or slow down the...
