You will have more gears to play with when you are not driving at highway speeds. For example, do you remember the days of the 3 and 4 speed trucks? You'd have to really spin up the motor before it will shift to 4 and most times it will be to early so you'll have to down shift again to 3rd...
While coming to a stop from high speed the truck will walk down through the gears with 4th being the last gear, and then just before a complete stop it will engage 1st where you may feel a slight surge forward. My '14 DRW Diesel with the AISIN and 4.10 gears was awful with this. It was so bad...
Its been a few months so thought I'd report back with an update. I had very similar characteristics to what most have experienced on this thread and since the dealer tightened the driveshaft flange bolts to spec the noise/clunk has never returned.
Good luck to those that are still struggling...
I have noticed weird things happen when I use the remote start and seems to be the common factor. For example, I have dropped to EE mode before shutting down arriving at work, remote started when leaving work and then it would stay in EE the ride home.
On another occasion the radio station...
Mine does the same thing at times. Wonder if its more a programming issue then a hardware (compressor, etc.) issue since it is random. I simply raise it manually and all good. Hoping a future software patch fixes it.
NP.
I don't believe the weight was an issue. I believe it was more of the size of the trailer and being pushed by a passing large truck, and then slightly pushing the 1500 in its lane. Although very little I was shocked I felt it at all and is wondering how much worse will it get with a...
Never said I felt white knuckled pulling the tiny cargo trailer. LOL
My friend is a fireman who drives tanker trucks (class 8 truck) and says when he does the NJ to SC vacation pulling his 30' TT with his 1500 it is a 'white knuckle' drive the whole way. He has a WD and anti-sway hitch...
I have a 8.5' x 24' Thule cargo trailer also that has extra height ( think its 7'6") that I will do a test run with. I know how this handled behind the DRW trucks I had so I'm curious how this 1500 will tow that parachute. LOL. Will let you know my opinions on that soon.
I like the Ram 1500...
I did a conversion from a SRW to a DRW on a 2500 Ram a number of years ago. Although it increased my carrying capacity it never increased my legal capacity. In fact I lowered my legal capacity as the extra weight of the wheels, spacer hubs, and fender flares added weight while not increasing...
First tow with the 2019. Trailer is a 7 x 14 enclosed with a v-nose. Empty weight according to the shipping docs is 2120# so its very light. In my opinion - this truck sucks towing. Let me just prefix this I come from 3 Ram diesel DRW trucks so maybe my bar is just a little higher. Thought...
Aside from what FCA states for max towing capacity the gear ratio plays a big part in not just acceleration but also deceleration (using the motor to control the load going downhill). All these factors come into play when towing (and when FCA posts their recommended towing specs). A higher...
I do most city or 55 roads with lights, and for this past winter I kept it in 2wd without an issue. I have the e-locker so the rear is open. In wet conditions the traction control seems to kick in and does a nice job on keeping the truck from becoming a 1 wheel wonder.
I drive conservative...
That is what makes this one a difficult issue to diagnose. The bolts appear tight but are not tight enough to keep the joint from slipping.
Put car in drive, apply torque and then put in park. Mark the flange and pinion. Put car in reverse, apply torque and then put in park. Check marks...
I had the same symptoms. Fix was to correctly torque the drive shaft yoke to pinion flange bolts. (below is a thread where it was discussed).

I sold a couple month old 2013 Ram 3500 because once I towed heavy with it I knew I wanted different gears and AISIN over the crappy 68rfe transmission. I ordered a 2014 with the same color and features just so people at work wouldn't think I'm nuts BUT I STAYED WITH A RAM! LOL
With that said...
Appears to be 81 ft lbs. However, if they are lose the threads and/or bolt may have been damaged. They replaced the bolts on my truck. At minimum I'd pull one or all to inspect before torquing them.
I'd also like to add the clunk is gone, and the whole drive-train feels tighter (the way it...
Dealer just called. They said the bolts that hold the driveshaft to the pinion flange were lose and/or not torqued to spec. Once tightened the noise has gone away.
Going to pick up truck this afternoon. If the noise did not go away I'll report back, but they seem very confident that was it...
