Why look at the cluster when you can just look at the HUD. You can customize it so it shows road name, speed and limit, or just 1 or 2 of them. If you've got a Laramie I assume you have this feature. Maybe not, you know what they say about assuming.
Anyway, have it or not, it's not 100%...
I guess some of the responses may be coming from folks out west where the land is flat and you can see for miles. But all the roads I've driven on (including the freeway) have hills and curves far too close together to be able to safely support high speed.
On to you're post though. You...
Oooohhhh, well there's the confusion. My apologies. I thought you were talking about the example, and just quoted the most recent post on the topic. Which is why I quoted that same section about the example in post #29 when I originally said I thought he was just making a random example.
See...
Maybe I'm looking at it different, but he mentions the manufacturer not wanting people to die because a random part failed (..."tires, drive shaft, etc"...) then goes on to give a theoretical headline that would look bad on the brand. Yes there was a specific speed and part stated, but the...
From the nerd side of things, this is a good calculator. They're using SAE values for the coefficient of friction. It checks out, and is giving accurate (but limited) numbers.
For anyone wanting to do the math yourself, or to calculate surfaces other than wet/dry asphalt, the formula is:
d =...
As noted above I'd go with the strut lift (top hat) only. They make tall enough spacer to do that without using a pre-load spacer which will harshen the ride. Granted, doing a combo will accomplish the same goal, but I don't see the need for it.
Another option is to replace the struts with...
You recall correctly.
My OEM wheels/tires (275/55/20) weighed in at 76.5 lbs before the swap.
My current set (285/75/18) weigh 85.9 lbs so the wheel and tire combo obviously matters. That said, I made a pretty substantial change by decreasing the wheel 2" and increasing the tire 3" yet it...
I've never measured a vehicle after putting just UCA's on, but then I also do the final torque on the ground like you're supposed to too.
For clarification, the "settling" I'm referring to is likely more a matter of angles, not so much stuff moving around. Maybe I should use a different term...
I assume this was measured after the install and before driving to settle the suspension. Pretty much every time I've done suspension modification I get an extra 1/2" that goes away as soon as I drive it.
I'll agree with that too.
I have no idea why they still make preload spacers when a top hat style spacer is available.
The problem is they're all marketed under the same names (leveling spacer, coil spacer, budget boost, etc) so you gotta look to make sure you're getting the style you want...
I installed a Motofab kit on my truck. I did 2.5" on the front with 1.5" on the rear because I too wanted to keep some rake. I probably could have used a 1" spacer for the rear, but I erred on the side of caution. Better to have it too high, than too short I guess.
Anyway. I also ordered the...
Man that sounds exactly like our latest recue. It's funny that you can adopt/recue a puppy (from the pound, side of the road, anywhere) and it will bond with you. But there's a whole different level of bond that a recued dog (rather than puppy) has with it's new people. It's like they can...
That's good that the '22 has free map updates. Apparently Dodge heard the complaints and did something about it. Good for them, that's the way it should be.
As for BMW, wow that's greedy. If it were me, I'd say screw their heated seat option, and install some Katzkin with heated option. Then...
Yeah, I'll second that. I added a harness on mine to so I could splice into it rather than into the factory wires. I still have the 4 pin plug free so plugging into that for power would be even easier. Either way, a $20 purchase saves you from cutting the factory wires, and it gives you a lot...
Or you can simply mount some LED lamps under the bumper using brackets that attach to the hitch tube.
You can either splice inline with the reverse lights or wire them to a stand alone switch. I wired mine to a switch since I don't need them to turn on while reversing during the day...
I found this chart a while back. Looks like the vast majority will meet that threshold. The TRX and a select few Crew Cabs don't but otherwise seems pretty common to exceed 1700 lbs.
Oh yeah, the company that is taking them is certainly not selling them as complete units. Suffice it to say, they're known for selling parts, definitely not whole cars.
