If the spare ISN'T GOING TO WORK due to upgraded tire size - then keeping it onboard serves no real purpose.
As others have said - if 70lbs of spare is going to make/break your payload limits - than a bigger truck just might be in order.
But again - if it isn't going to serve a purpose - lose...
This is one of those "if you're actually going to use them" kind of thing (for me at least).
For people who use these as "working trucks" - the ability to grab frequently used tools, etc., along with an inverter outlet to charge batteries is a very cool thing.
I have no use for them - so I...
I wouldn't get too worried - if everyone that has had ZERO ISSUES posted that they had ZERO ISSUES - you wouldn't be able to find the "I'm having this (or that) problem" posts.
And (aside from stuff like CEL's) - a lot of this stuff is subjective.
example: People complain about the A/C in...
Can't speak for others - but I remove my PC and Tazer before brining it in for service. First thing the service writer does is hook a tablet to it to read the ECU. Never want any questions or "wiggle room" for FCA to claim mods are the reason for a warranty claim. Takes 30 seconds to remove...
I get that - but if you have a MILEAGE LIMITED POLICY - it's only good to that mileage.
As I commented earlier - 125K mile is only good for 4 years for me. As soon as I get close to 100 - I trade. Because your trade-in value takes a dive after 100K miles.
For folks that drive the (average)...
I went for the 7/unlimited myself - because I typically run up 100K in 4 years - and I might want to actually keep this one a little longer. I WILL NOT OWN a car with 20 computers - without a factory warranty to cover it. In the case of my 2 previous Hondas - I never had to use them (OK - CV...
Also - for FLORIDA BUYERS - VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT (like $1,000 worth of important).
Florida's DIVISION OF INSURANCE took over the regulation of "extended warranties" a number of years ago - due to the number of SCAM EXTENDED WARRANTIES going on down here (the land of the phone room...
I love how these arguments rage on - akin to the "what kind of oil should I use?" (followed by lab results from oil that no one understands).
I todays computerized fuel/ignition systems - the computer will compensate for the entire range of octanes (and even go into "limp mode" for a bad batch...
I did the FCA 7yr/Unlimited.
WAY TOO MANY COMPUTERS in this thing to not have one.
I like the manufacturers warranties. Even if it means bringing it to a dealer (that has better access to tech support, diagnostic tools and PARTS anyways).
And I usually TRADE when the extended is almost gone...
I hear ya.
I'm an "early adopter" - seems I always get the first model year of a new gen (when I probably should wait for year two).
Never know what these manufacturers are gonna decide. I got the 2016 Honda Pilot (first year of Gen3) - no CarPlay. They come out with it in '17 - and pissed...
I use the Hera front grip on a number of my builds. The stock tends to reinforce the buffer tube assembly, and is quite ergonomic.
Not a big fan of the direct impingement gas system myself. One of the (many) reasons I really like my SCAR-17, Sig MPX (9mm) and MCX (300blackout),M-14's, and...
^^^^ THIS!!!
I came out of a '16 Honda Pilot Touring - where "Lane Sense" was almost as good as Tesla's "auto pilot". That car could steer you through curves and stay centered in the lane. So I had "high expectations" for a newer version of this tech.
It is VIRTUALLY USELESS and more of an...
This is for trailer backing novices I suppose - that can't get the concept that the trailer turns in the opposite direction of the wheel when backing.
Tons of people when I went to truck driving school (including myself in the beginning) had issues with timing and orientation backing trailers...
I use the Fuelly app to track my gas mileage and expenses. Also has a place to log service(s) including taking photos of receipts to prove supplies were purchased.

A little more to it than that - but yeah - you need a new box to swap out. But simply taking it off (for whatever reason) is do-able. All tailgates (99%) in all pickups are removable. Level of difficulty varies from truck to truck.
Rick
takes off just like a regular tailgate - and DO GET A TAILGATE LOCK TO SECURE IT - because these are likely to be a high theft item in the future.

Hopefully Limited38 will come back and respond - but from his comments above - it appears he had to make some modifications to the MFT step and where it mounts - to accommodate the corner step.
