Largest tires on Stock Rebel suspension and wheels

I have 32K on my stock tires... rotated every 7,500ish miles... they are fine, really. Very noticeable treadware since new, and they are buzzy at speed... but always have been. I'm on the fence about replacing them before the winter, and if I do, it'll be 285/75's. Certainly serviceable in...

    Service axle locker

Coincidentally, are you talking to parts or service about this issue? The only reason I ask is I recently had a strange circumstance completely unrelated to your axel problem. A rock got kicked up and cracked my windshield. I had it replaced with OEM glass by Safelite who couldn't have been...

    Service axle locker

Damn... well that sucks. I'm sorry. Hopefully they figure out some kind of part fix that doesn't require a new axel soon. It could be a parts shortage issue still... like they only can make enough inventory for new trucks and complete axels... however, that's really disappointing.

    Service axle locker

What? You gotta replace the whole axel for what is clearly something electronic? I call BS, and you should call another dealer or mechanic. That can't be right. - I would believe there's a parts shortage to fix whatever is causing the issue however.-

Hood vents even more useless than we knew

STILL boggles my mind that RAM went ahead and put complete vents, including the big holes in the metal stamping for the hood, only to close them off completely save for a little drain hole.

    Service axle locker

That sucks. I assume that means you can't engage the locker either, right? My gut says it's some kind of electrical gremlin since it comes on at random times and not when you're engaging the locker. Maybe it's the solenoid in the axel? By transfer case module you mean the set of buttons...

Is Off-road package the way to go?

I go back and forth on this. I feel like how I use my truck 99% of the time, the LSD would be more beneficial because it's always "on". Particularly on slippery paved roads. The E-Locker has a much more limited use case, and has to be activated by the driver... hopefully before you get stuck...

    Rebel vs. Off Road Package

Just to weigh in further on the debate... I went back and forth between the Laramie and Rebel quite a bit. Driving both back to back, etc. The Laramie felt like the more "responsible dad" truck to get while the 10-year-old boy in me ached for the Rebel. Ultimately, it came down to what was...

    Rebel vs. Off Road Package

IDK... I think the rear bumper "strength" depends as much on how it's hit vs. speed it's hit. My wife was driving our Rebel this winter when she was rear ended by a 2000-ish Silverado at a stop light. Roads were slick after a snow storm and the driver admittedly was paying much attention...

Is the "hemi tick" still a thing in the latest models?

Seems more of a dealer "problem" getting it fixed than a RAM problem. Sure RAM designed the Hemi to have aluminum heads and cast iron manifolds creating the "tick" issue... but the dealers seem to be bilking customers to get it fixed. Nice "create a problem to have people pay you to fix it"...

Is the "hemi tick" still a thing in the latest models?

Now that I think about it... manifolds are definitely part of emissions because CARB has regulated aftermarket ones into the ground. Again, it's probably state by state.

Is the "hemi tick" still a thing in the latest models?

Curious... wouldn't the exhaust manifolds be considered part of emissions instead of drivetrain? Might be different from state to state, but generally emissions related components have longer mandated warranties and I would argue the component responsible for collecting exhaust gasses pre-cat...

What tire comes in 285/70R18? That's sounds perfect for what I want to replace the stock Duratracks...

    Squeak/chirp going over bumps

Try spraying Brake Cleaner in and around that thin metal "clip" in the picture below. I've heard... maybe it's in this very thread... that the chirp is a result of metal filings caught between the clip and caliper. Not sure the validity of that statement, but, if wiping down the caliper, clips...

    Squeak/chirp going over bumps

That's what happened with me. It started out as an intermittent squeak, then progressed to a more persistent chirp, and eventually worked itself out completely to where it's silent today with 31K on the odometer. Hopefully you experience the same and it ultimately resolves itself.

    Squeak/chirp going over bumps

If you feel confident in doing that, I would. An easier "test" is to just spray the anti-rattle clips with brake cleaner or WD-40 and then take it for a spin over the same roads you hear the noise. If the noise is gone for a short while, you've ID'd your problem.

    Nauset Beach Day

Probably a 4-5 hour trip to get there? Not horrible. National Seashore is the only place you can buy a temporary pass, 1-week for $50. Pretty easy to do for a day or weekend trip though, and the scenery is truly epic. It's still shut down for nesting birds however. FYI - You'll need basic...
