You'll probably get a little less MPG with the Rebel but it will be tough to quantify. The Rebel has more aggressive tires and is less aerodynamic so there will be some loss there, but where you drive, how you drive, how much highway vs city driving etc. will have a bigger impact IMO than trim...
Payload is a tug of war between regulations, engineers, marketing and lawyers. The engineers design the truck according to what marketing (product planning, etc.) wants and the regulations require (i.e. specific Federal formulas and requirements for towing). They build the truck to exceed...
Holy crap that's cold.
Since you have Air Ride up there in the Great White North, be sure to chime in from time to time if you can. It would be helpful to have experiences to compare with the 4th gen trucks.
I had an issue last winter with the front anti-sway bar bushings, but it was more of a knock than squeak. I think the material used in the bushings contracted from the cold. They got replaced under warranty. Definitely something to keep in mind.
Ok... so spark is fine. I'm assuming air and O2 sensors are fine (almost certainly will get a check engine light)... air filter is ok? Compression I'll also assume is fine since a loss of compression would be very noticeable. That would leave fuel... maybe the throttle sensor is flat out BAD...
I agree with this 100%.
But, these forums are valuable to learn about problems, concerns, and how to get them fixed if you are in a similar situation. So it's good that people come here and talk about what's happening with their trucks.
Perspective is everything. Ram will make and sell over...
I think people are conflating things here on this thread. "Worth" has a different meaning to each individual. Is it worth spending $1,250 as an option when you're going to be doing serious off-roading or high speed desert running? No... take that money and use it to get a lift and some Fox...
Unless I'm missing it, I'm not seeing many threads on failed Air Suspension for these 5th gen trucks which have been in production for three years now. I think if there were similar issues to what the 4th gen's experienced we would have heard about it by now... a lot. Not saying there aren't...
I believe that air suspension is supposed to lower to Aero at 65 and return to Normal at 35 MPH. Of course there's a delay from when your truck actuates the height change to when it gets the to the desired height. Maybe you're just changing speeds faster than it respond.
Sounds like it still...
I can see how people like, and like to use RTT's. If you're not spending more than a night in one spot and are always on the move, I think they make a TON of sense. Same goes for Fridge/Freezers and pressure water systems... if you have a use case and truly use them... then by all means...
I feel like "Overlanding" is really an African, Australian and maybe central Asian thing whose true definition has been brought over to the US to now mean something else. In those places, its all about crossing huge distances while being completely remote. That's where things like a RTT really...
