I have been using this for years: https://www.chemicalguys.com/EcoSmart_RU_Waterless_Car_Wash_Wax_1_Gal_p/wac_707ru.htm
Recommended to me by a friend who is a car detailing freak. Haven't used water to wash a car since 2016.
Just got this done today and with the advice here and the video, it was easy to do. Paid $90 total with shipping (got it for free). I can't believe this isn't standard. Makes it look so much cleaner in addition to the protection. Thanks for all the help!
At the end of the day, of all the differences, they are really minor with the exception of appearance. I think the grille and wheel/tire combo is a major difference over other trims that is the decision point. The quality of life and interior options are basically the same. You should expect...
ODB will add everything/anything you want. You need all the right modules still, i.e. if you took the chrome heater tow mirror and put it on my truck which doesn't have heat, even with ODB Genie (or dealer flash) it wouldn't heat. You need to replace the module in the door for the one with heat...
Can you send a pic and part number? I would be interested in putting the 2018 mirror on but I'd need to keep the puddle light and blind spot indicator.
See https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/towing-mirror-glass-swap-from-non-heated-to-heated-glass.5869/
Short answer is yes, it's possible to take the guts out of heated tow mirror and put it into your existing mirror, but you'd need the modules and code flashed too.
Or somehow get the dealer to do it for free - maybe some customer service satisfaction thing. It isn't like they have to do anything except hook up a device and pay someone's hourly to push the buttons. Let's be honest here. $370 for the ODB Genie + bypass is a great example of monopolistic...
Irony is the TFL guys just did a Rebel towing MPG test and it got better MPG towing 7k in the snow and in the mountains! Stock Rebel too. Rebel does much better on freeways. I get around 10.5 now, all suburb, short-trip driving. They were higher than that towing on the freeway in bad weather. So...
Is it a noticeable difference when backing up at night in the camera with these? I redid my wife's car with almost the same ones and it's not unbelievably better but it's more white instead of red which is probably better in the long run.
It's almost like idling (especially remote start) is like flooring it. If I am early on after resetting the MPG calculator, I can sit there in a parking lot and watch the MPG average decline. It's insane.
That's a 2018. I assume he was talking about the new ones, the 2019. Also not having heat but having power folding is even dumber than not having either almost.
Yeah, it's shockingly better at night. It's almost blinding. I didn't realize they didn't come on when backing up so I was expecting better illumination on reverse...I also didn't realize it was a pain to change out the rear reverse bulbs and not as simple as the 3rd brake light/CHMSL. I don't...
That's a great point. Even a new truck not broken in driving in the city should get MUCH better MPG than the same truck (his had 3k miles only also, so it's new too) towing 7400 lbs in mountainous areas in snow with some 4WD used! Combination of impressive towing MPG and poor non honestly it...
I get 10.5 also. Got all the TSBs done, top tier gas (89), NEVER mash the accelerator and drive conservatively, 95% stop and go, short trip suburb city driving.
I was doing the math that if it got 15 MPG, I would be ecstatic. So let's compare with analysis to make me feel better about my 10.5...
I used these https://amzn.to/2G71DsB and it was also very simple plug and play and much brighter. Just make sure to seat the plastic back in nicely to avoid leaks into the cab. FWIW, these are 2000 lumens and the others posted were 1550, both of which are much brighter than stock so not sure if...
