Can still go with the abovementioned Bilstein set up and upgrade to the RC forged UCA's, to ensure long term off road durability, and the height, etc. he was looking for. From my understanding the new RC arms are pretty stout and at roughly $350 a fairly reasonable upgrade over stock/mopar...
Not to derail the thread or get off topic.. but i've been contemplating a similar scenario... Have you thought about going the 5100/5160 Bilstein route? The set of shocks is roughly $600, you can add the mopar UCA's for slightly better ball joint angles for about $100/shipped if not cheaper, and...
Another great option that hasn't been mentioned yet, Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain. Been researching a lot, and time and time again these pop up as a solid competitor for ride quality, noise, and wet/off-road performance.
On 2 different threads multiple people reporting displeasure with the 5100's in regards to ride, noises & control. With so many people offering solid reviews in regards to those issues with the mopar/fox set up, I wonder if that is a better route?
Yes, those are certainly the 2 set ups ive debated. I like the fact the mopar kit comes with the mopar UCA's and if I added the ORP springs to that set up I think it would be fairly complete and suit my needs. But also like the 5100/5160 set up as well, can also add ORP springs or Mopar UCA's...
So the truck is a daily driver for me, I commute about 12 miles each way to work, so ride quality and driveability is important. The fam & I live in delaware and make regular trips to our drive on beaches and up into the mountains, mainly western Maryland for camping and some light trails. My...
Well said, and appreciate the thoughtful explanation. I'm wrapping my head around it all and trying to make the best decision possible for the truck and my uses for it. Learn a little bit more everyday, although the more I learn the harder the decision is to make.
But wouldn't the shock set at a lower setting be more beneficial to the performance and longevity of the shock? If I were to use the springs as mentioned to gain the height and match with an upgraded shock versus maxing out the shock body itself to provide the lift, wouldn't that be optimal?
Does Icon have front & rear springs available? Reason I'm asking I plan on going the 5100/5160 and was going to add the ORP springs, but would prefer a softer spring that still lifts?
I had the front brake pads replaced under warranty due to the horrible screeching described thoroughly on the forum. My local dealer was great and replaced them on my first visit/complaint. The only other issue I've noticed is the random smell of coolant. Truck performs fine, and I check...
I have also contemplated the same idea's. In theory both the Bilstein & Fox should ride similarly since they are both 2" shocks. I currently have non-orp with a 2" spacer up front so anything I do should be an improvement to ride quality & performance. Only other + of going with Mopar kit is the...
I've been trying to convince my wife for years to get a 4x4 Diesel Sprinter. They really are the ultimate for an active family.
As for the recognition, it does certainly feel good when someone appreciates your upgrade efforts.
I have contemplating a similar conundrum. Originally I thought long & hard about 20 x 9 +1 offset wheels w/ either 33x11.50 or 35x11.50, but the more I think about it, the more I am contemplating going down to 18's. Doing an 18x9 + 1 or 0 offset and will allow for 295/70 which I really think...
