Zero trimming. Just added foam rubber gasket and dropped them in. CDT’s didn’t come with any. Like you I had several sheets of material from my last truck. It’s more for the harmonics in my mind. These trucks are so quiet inside. I didn’t go to crazy with it.
Without testing it’s hard to say how the CDT’s would sound out of phase. My gut tells me somewhere in between “stock driver reversed” and “CDT normal polarity” if that makes sense? The CDT driver is so well made compared to the $5 H/K mid bass, your seeing gains just due to higher quality...
Great call! I listened to mine after doing only the fronts and it’s 95% better at that point. Rears we’re not worth the effort but I bought two sets because they were so cheap. It also gave me a chance to sound deaden all 4 doors and tighten the bolts behind the door panel. Mine were all...
Reversing polarity makes the speaker work out of phase or opposite of in phase. Sometimes this is done to achieve a certain frequency response but in the case of the H/K system It robs the mid bass driver of having the authority it needs. The engineers at RAM had a specific sound profile in...
You were right about the 6x9 door speakers making a big difference. Tonight I replaced all 4 with the CDT’s. Blown away at the difference. Completely happy with the whole system now.
Decided to see what the hype was about regarding the CDT 6X9's and installed 2 sets tonight. Hardest part of the job was removing the small plastic panel covering the bolt behind the door latch. 9 hold down points for a 3 gram 1" plastic cover ensures it will be totally destroyed upon removal...
Changed my oil for the first time a few weeks back and found no need for ramps. Have a set of Rhino's but never bothered. Large glad food storage bag around the filter kept that from being a mess also. Was considering the filter relocation kit but I'm passing on that for now. Total time &...
Great right up! Any further testing to report with Hertz & Infinity?
Also, would love to hear more detail about why the faital and CDT didn’t fit your ear?
Yep! I called them today to try and decipher the marketing language. The guy I spoke with didn’t have a clue about the two different systems offered in our trucks. I didn’t have time to dig deeper so I gave up before figuring it out. Might make sense to grab the 6x9’s and see how that improves...
Looks interesting but it’s hard to tell what your getting and no option for 2ohm vs 4ohm which is important to know based on what your replacing. Almost seems like it’s geared towards the older gen trucks? Also where does the passive filter come into play? Not enough info on the package…
Here's a real world comparison of 2 similarly equipped Laramie 4X4's, mine with 3.21 gears and "Idahoktm's" with 3.92 gears. I did the same drive as he this past week. (I did drive into the woods yesterday. By the time we got to our destination, I was at 16.3 mpg...it was 35 mph and all uphill...
