    transmission fluid change

I took that from ZF website. Apparently sealed doesn’t mean it doesn’t in someway vent. Yeah the 70 - 80k is a “severe duty” suggestion.

    transmission fluid change

At 100k the fluid was turning but not bad still you got that initial heavier break in material out. At 200k it was darker still because not all got drained the first time with what stays in the converter. So I change it every 100k that’s not to say that more often wouldn’t be better. At. 700k I...

    Cat scale slips

You have replaced most of your steer weight which is good. Your tongue weight is light at less than 6%. This would be prone to sway at higher speeds. But if you have a built in sway control hitch you may never see or feel it. Truck & trailer both look nice and level.

    Cat scale slips

Excellent work. That is helping out a friend and making the roads safer for all of us. You can in the extreme example (8k+ TT poor WD) take it from out of spec to within spec without removing any weight and from "white knuckle" to two fingers driveable. Isn't it surprising how many people...

    Cat scale slips

Joecameron Using WDH (y) Largely replaced unloaded steer weight. (y) Loaded weight 7100 less unloaded weight of 6420 equals tongue weight of 780 pounds (Use this method when using a WDH because tongue weight is dynamic & no longer static) 780 plus 5160 equals 5960 gross trailer weight. 780/5940...

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

Lol daughter bought a pallet of close out tile. I knew it would be heavy and unfortunately had no access to a trailer. 2,208 pounds. Cab height loaded tight to cab on 6.4 bed with axle to frame bags at 30 psi and tires aired to 44 psi no issues. I'm sure it was over max drive axle at about an...

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

Not necessarily which ever one feels better, feels more stable. Some type of skid pad tests might prove one slightly better than the other both should be in the zone so to speak. Also one trailer might like one better than the other.

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

JF19, Ideally a little more on the steer yes but he is probably in the zone so to speak with decent steer and good tongue weight it should feel right and be stable. bpwj, "I am new to towing" Your focus is right and you describe your towing experience in a very experienced manor. (lol not...

$950? Website posts $379. https://timbergroveenterprises.com/old-home In coil bags can definitely suffice. Having had both I'll pay the extra.

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

RRlover55, With half tons it's rarely about power. Its most often about weight distribution magnified by soft suspension. People are simply not taught the how and the why. A flat bed load is one thing a tall high center of gravity wind sail known as a travel trailer or toy hauler is another...

    3.92 with the Ecodiesel

We had a guy on another forum towing a large camper at the rated capacity of his Pentastar powered 1500. Trying to tow the grade from Cali to Vegas. If memory serves me he could only hold 2 gear meaning he couldn’t make or hold the upshift to 3rd. So he screamed up it slowly and at high temps...

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

Lol don’t buy used U haul. Over max tow I’m sure with transmission rebuild in her future. In many states you can legally tow a bumper pull behind a 5th wheel but only a few states have no specific regulation against towing anything behind a bumper pull trailer. Lol can’t think of the proper...

Skip the finger cross post the pic and the scale slip. Then tell us how it tows so far. Don't worry about judgement by idiot worry about being the idiot who flys blind then says I didn't know. Lol same with this guy. Looks ok only would like to see the numbers and hear of his towing...

    3.92 with the Ecodiesel

BTW like mghurle I to transport TTs with my 3.92 ED and in the well 4 to 9k range. Only mine is with a 4th gen. Oddly mine seems to do better on fuel than his even when towing boxy TTs. However mine does benefit from GDE engine & trans tunes. Also it benefits considerably with how much better...

    3.92 with the Ecodiesel

Take 1st gear out of the equation. Both trucks Accelerating with a heavy travel trailer with say 50 percent throttle from say 10 mph in 2nd gear to 65 mph. The 3.92 will still do it quicker and more easily than the 3.21. Why because even if the final drive ratios had ended up being exactly the...

    Ecodiesel Issues? Look out for?

I run GDE’s original tune (EGR turned off) since 30k. The 400k mile truck runs SKTs (EGR turned off) Son in law runs HD Diesel’s tune (EGR turned off). Recently some have been happy with MR Tuning’s tune. There are also people happy with GDE’s leaves EGR on tune. Never heard of anyone...
