With 5 people and a “NICE” 29 foot camper I’d seriously be looking for a 2500.
Your Longhorn will probably be short on payload. Post a pic of your payload sticker (yellow/black) inside your drivers door jamb. I’m guessing your max payload is around 1350. Subtract from that the weight of 5...
I tow a similar size/weight camper. I only use tow/haul in hilly areas. That’s where I feel it serves a purpose. I’m not a fan of it otherwise. I do have the 3.92 gears though. Transmission never heats up on flat highway and no unusual shifting.
11 mpg sounds pretty good to me. I usually get...
Dry tongue weight + weight distribution hitch weight + driver/passenger/dog already puts you right at your 1220 maximum payload. That tongue weight will be closer to 1000 by the time you’ve loaded the trailer. Then you’re way over.
Bet it’s longer than 30ft overall length (hitch to bumper)...
Installed mine this week. The throttle response is definitely improved. It’s noticeable. I actually spun the tires a bit today on dry pavement completely by accident. Wasn’t deep in the throttle, just pressed down quickly. Never did that before.
What does the yellow tire and loading sticker inside your drivers door say for max payload? How many passengers and how much cargo are you planning to carry in the truck? A 9000# camper will have quite a heavy tongue weight.
Length is also a factor. With a half ton I would try to stay under...
If it makes you feel better just tell yourself that the hack is just a temporary fix until FCA addresses the issue. I seriously doubt they ever will though.
The inadequate AC had been my one disappointment with this truck. With the valve installed it’s just a distant memory and my satisfaction...
Put the valve in and drive in complete comfort. Problem solved.
I know we shouldn’t have to but it’s so much easier to solve this problem than live with inadequate A/C. Live a happier life and just fix it yourself. Simple and cheap fix.
Drove Orlando to Miami today. 70-72mph, mostly 72. Lie o meter says 21.1. That includes some idling for lunch and a couple bathroom stops with A/C running.
Around town I get 16.5 to 17.5 on the lie o meter (Orlando area). When I lived in Fort Lauderdale I got 15-16 around town.
I’m getting...
I changed the rear gear on a 4th gen Ram 4x2. Back then it cost me about $300 for parts (that I purchased and supplied to the shop) and $900 for labor. Took them a full day to install. If it had been a 4x4 I would have just traded the truck for something similar with the gear ratio I wanted...
The actual payload will be about 1300 with those options. Contact one of the dealers and have them send you a pic of the payload sticker inside the drivers door.
I do a good bit of towing. The trans in my truck stays nearly the same when towing as when not towing. Maybe 5 degrees more.
I see 178-195 when towing. Highest temps seen when backing the trailer into a tight campsite after a couple of tries. Surprisingly little change when towing in the...
