Payload??!! Truck Shopping and Travel Trailer Shopping

The 2wd has 200lbs less GVWR but 4x4 weighs 240lbs more. So 40lb advantage to the 2wd.

Payload??!! Truck Shopping and Travel Trailer Shopping

My nephew just stayed with us for a few days and brought his brand new GMC 1500 4x4 crew cab pickup. Well equipped but not as well equipped as my Longhorn. His payload is 1545 compared to 1479 for my Long horn. Very comparable.

5.7L non Etorque.. What are your best Average MPGs (EVIC or manual)?

My best yet was from Orlando to Miami and back. Roads are straight and flat, 89 octane fuel and adaptive cruise set to 72. Me and a passenger with 150 lbs cargo on the way down. Stopped for lunch, dropped off the cargo then picked up 300 lbs cargo for the return trip. Lie o meter said 23.7 in...

For Those Pulling Campers with their 1500 3.21 or 3.92

There are plenty of Big Horn owners on the forum with 1700-1800 payload. Great numbers for towing. I’ve got a Longhorn that I think is very well equipped with 1479 payload. Its quite luxurious but still capable for towing. I avoided most of the heavier options (multi function tailgate ~125lbs...

    Are you using your E-Locker?

I’ve used it several times on our properties. Slick wet fields with hills, steep gravel driveways. Really works well for me.

    Poor gas mileage

Made a recent 850 mile trip from FL to WV. Adaptive cruise set to 76. A few stops along the way including waiting in long line at Chikfila drive thru and eating in the car with the AC running in the parking lot. Lie-o-meter says 21.7 at the end of the trip.

    Forest River Salem 32BHDS

I wouldn’t tow that trailer with a half ton. Too long, too heavy for a half ton truck in my opinion. That trailer will be close to 10000 and probably 1200 tongue weight fully loaded. Add the weight of you, your family, dog, hitch and other cargo and you’re probably over your trucks max payload...

    2019 Ram 1500 5th wheel towing

I’d stick to a certified CAT scale rather than the quarry or junkyard scales. The non-Certified scales can be off by quite a lot.

    2019 Ram 1500 5th wheel towing

There are a few examples of 4x4 Limited trim trucks on this site with ~1100 payload. That means their curb weight is about 6000. See the “Please post your Tire and Loading sticker” thread. You’ll see plenty of Limiteds with payloads similar to yours, it’s the norm. My payload sticker says 1479...

    Load Support Products

Used the Timbrens on my previous Ram (2015). My 2019 has the 4 corner air suspension so no need for them any more. Bought them mainly for towing a travel trailer with 850 pound tongue weight and 6700 pounds total plus a couple hundred pounds of cargo in the bed and back seat. They keep the truck...

    Towing capacity.

Best way to know for sure is to take your truck to the closest CAT scale. Fill up with fuel and weigh it. Subtract that weight from your GVWR (found on the silver sticker inside the drivers door) and you will have an accurate payload number.

    towing TT with 2wd truck

Towed a travel trailer 13000 miles with my previous 2wd truck with an open differential. Never got stuck. All different kinds of campsites. A month of camping in Texas too. Sand, gravel, dirt, grass. Uphill, downhill. Wet, dry and even some snow. Never got stuck. The tongue weight of the...

Please post your Tire and Loading sticker

Yes , now that the VIN lookup gives the actual payload for that exact vehicle it’s a lot easier to find the payload for the trim and options you want. The VIN lookup was fixed relatively recently. Before that the VIN lookup was worthless and only gave a generic payload number without taking into...

    Aftermarket exhaust drone while towing?

Not a full aftermarket exhaust, but I have the Mufflex kit with a Magnaflow 24” muffler. Wanted something a little more aggressive than stock and had concerns about sound levels when towing. I’d say there’s no drone when towing. I’m sure my wife would have let me know if there was.

Mopar’s “Ram Airflow” Cold-Air Intake System For Ram 1500:

No issues with oil changes at my dealership. They know to just pop the lid off for oil fill access.

    2020 rebel payload

Subtract another 73lbs for the 33 gal fuel tank. Maybe another 70 pounds for level 2 package. Then the weight of the Rebel trim package itself, the weight of that I don’t know, but subtract at least (but definitely more) the weight of the Off-road package which is about 120 for other trims. Oh...

    Leveling Blocks and Chocks

Andersen levelers. Love them. So easy to level and chock. You just drive up on them, the further you go the higher that side of the trailer gets. When the trailer is level, insert the chocks. If you buy the Ultimate kit like I did you get a trailer jack for tandem axles, stabilizer pads and a...

**HELP** Yet Another **Payload** **Towing** Question

I I was just reading on an RV forum yesterday where a guy/gal with a 2019 F150 Platinum was complaining about the 1200 pound payload. The F150s weigh less but their GVWR is also lower unless you order the rare max payload package which is not available on the higher trims. The higher trim GM...
