i used the average of 12 mpg hemi & 23 mpg eco for my calculations. i came up with about 60k miles to break even the hemi.
that's with dealer oil change every 10k miles (not sale price), $1 per gallon difference in fuel cost, DEF & additional diesel engine charge from manufacturer. fuel...
:) there is a huge difference between gas & diesel mpg but the actual long term monetary savings on both is about the same. when u add the cost of diesel, DEF, the special oil & filter, & the additional manufacturer mark up for diesel engine. so right now, I'm actually at a negative value...
above is when the truck had barely 2k miles, Dec 2020.
now that i have almost 56k miles on the truck, on our recent road trip doing the painfully slow posted speed limit, on original duratracs with the recommended tire pressure.
- Central Valley to Vegas 25 mpg
- Vegas to Central Valley...
with your 5 inch sidewall height, keep an eye on the possibility of the chains rubbing/hitting your rims. unless you don't mind some cosmetic damage on your 22s.
ICE - yeah, i hate those things! I've slid sideways into soft shoulder snow (luckily) even with snow cables. very minor damage...
stock duratracs with 4/32 tread life left, on roughly 3+ inch of snow on the ground, placed the truck in 4wd hi & it drove just fine with very minimal slippage. i didn't install chains but i do have them. i even conducted a straight road break check at 20 mph when there were no one around & i...
frustrating!! i am at awe at the quality assurance inspection process that RAM employs & the lack of permanent fix to this problem. this is not some random gremlin issue that occurs when the stars are lined up a certain way. this have been happening for several years & still have no...
i attempted to remove that black trim on the roof, but when i was pulling on it harder than i would like for a plastic trim, it wouldn't pop out so i did a hail mary & just left it & applied sealant in the gap between the glass & frame.
i am tempted to apply sealant on the left side gap since...
I'm new to the diesel engine & def systems so I'm learning as i go also. but in theory, water in spray bottle & soft toothbrush to clean/dissolve the crust should work since DEF is water soluble. might take a while to desolve the crust without steam, but it should work. don't use any soap...
all these DEF injector hoopla got me paranoid so at around 30+k miles, i was changing my fuel filter & decided to take a look at my DEF injector since i was already down there. at 30+k miles using 90% Walmart DEF, 10% truck stop DEF my injectors look like this
steam cleaned it & also used a...
i purchased my rebel late 2020 and just noticed 2 months ago of a water leak inside the back passenger side headrest area. i conducted the normal leak search in the 3rd brake light, shark fin and the sliding window and all checked good. i found the leak is coming from the right side window (see...
I've had mine for 2 yrs, I'm happy with it. no visible sign of warping or even sun damage (i live in 105 deg average in summer). I've walked on the cover (200 lbs) & it did bow more than i preferred but no damage.
it does get heavy when u completely remove it which takes less than a...
Lomax urethane with Rambox. They do offer without Rambox.
Anything "Best" is a matter of opinion, but i am content with it. It's streamlined (same level) as the ridges of the Rambox.
aero (wind drag), weight & tire size plays a part, but the transmission gearing ratio plays a bigger part. eco rams with 3:21 transmission gets better mpg but u sacrifice a little lower tow capacity. but i think rebels only comes with 3:92. maybe special order?
I can get 27+ mpg if i drive 65 mph. REALLY BAD above 80 mph (20 mpg).
mpg is definitely better compared to gas BUT savings value of diesel over gas is debatable because u have to take into account that u have to fill DEF fluid (approx 1 gal every 1+k miles), plus oil change is about $250 from...
i have been using the idrive for about a month & completely content with it. i said "content" because i have nothing to compare it to & i know there are hundreds of products out there that's available.
my experience with it has been 99.9% positive - the delay when on complete stop is gone...
i used a heat gun to warm up both the plastic & the sticker. the heat helps a lot to make the tape stick better. i also used it to straighten the weather strip since it came rolled up.
bought it from ebay. I'm guessing if you have a camper shell store close by, you can get a foot or so. i used 6 inch strip per side, messed up 2x due to a runaway dremel tool. so i used 2 feet.
so far, I've had it about 2 months. minimal water leak during wash (no rain yet). seems...
Central Valley (CA) to Vegas, then to Grand Canyon (South Rim) then back, roughly 1400 miles in 4 days with 25 mpg as indicated in the vehicle computer. That's doing 75 mph average speed.
I can get 27 mpg if i drive her under 65 mph. REALLY BAD above 80 mph (20 mpg).
